DICE Listens To Testers, Fixes Battlefield 3 Bugs
Those participating in the Battlefield 3 multiplayer beta have spotted plenty of issues.
But that's the purpose of a beta; it's a test, after all. It's a chance for developers to fix glaring problems before the game arrives on store shelves, and DICE is already taking strides to fix common BF3 drawbacks.
If you check the updated Battlefield Blog, you can find a list of issues DICE has already fixed. Here are a few of the more significant repairs:
- Issue with spawning on dead squad mates fixed.
- Fixed a bug where shooting at a moving enemy could cause more than the intended amount of damage.
- Crosshairs for shotguns have been replaced with a new, thinner, art.
- A subtle low health screen effect has been added.
- Tweaked the Rank progression.
- Pushing prone on console will not play the animation twice.
- Framerate stability fixes.
- Fixed issue with crosshair disappearing after round transition.
- Fixed issue with crosshair disappearing after trying to deploy while the countdown timer still active.
- Squad list now shows specializations chosen, VOIP activity and dead squad mates.
Click through the link to read the entire list of fixes, and remember to check the Blog for future repairs and updates. DICE isn't about to ignore the negative feedback and remember, they've got over three weeks to ensure a solid, stable multiplayer experience when Battlefield 3 hits on October 25. So don't overreact too much if you perceive a lot of problems with the beta.

The only game-breaking complaint I have is the lack of ability to mute players. You know how depressing it is to listen to someone's microphone left running broadcasting some utter crap rap music with other players screaming to "shut the f**king music up" for the entire game?

P.S. I think that they should work a bit on the textures, I wouldn't mind having to do an install when the retail version comes out, I just want to have the best experience possible, they should do an install similar to what the developers are doing with the game RAGE.

The texture is then streamed in as you play the games... It feels the ground is one and looks very good from what I have seen of it. I think Rage visually, will look better than BF3.
Besides the terrible bugs in the Beta, my dismay at the Metro level is the not so destructible environment. I don't know what has gone on here... but we are supposed to be able destroy pretty much most things.
In the city I can't knock out building walls like I did before in BF2?

betas these days are there mainly for promotional purposes, and to test the back end of server demand. what they should never do is make gamers want to cancel their pre orders. that is exactly what is going on with this game. gamers expect there will be bugs but what they won't expect is a major upgrade in graphics in the short amount of time until this game ships.

After a half hour of constant dirt in my teeth, I finally said "That's enough.
It's a shame I never even got the chance to enjoy any part of only the 2nd MP I've ever tried(KZ3's the other), but I guess that's the breaks, so I promptly deleted the beta.
Oh well, I'm sure I'll enjoy playing my usual SP side of it.

It's not like in offline singleplayer where things gradually get tougher along a well calculated scheme - it's straight into the ring against a bunch of players who's got one plan only: To beat you at any cost.
You will not know what hit you the first times around. I've played Crysis 2 multiplayer quite some this spring and summer, and the first few hours I simply had no idea how they could be this good. I died, died, died, died and died. And then died some more. And notice, at this stage I've already beaten the single player campaign. I was no newcomer to Crysis 2 - it's just that mp is so insanely much harder to master. SP is like playing in slow motion in comparison.
Then, gradually... I managed to get some kills. Pure luck at first. But I learnt to use the suit more effective (that's a major part of what Crysis2 is all about). Started to know the controls by instinct. Started to know the maps. Managed to avoid enemies. Knew where I usually would meet them, and where I usually would be spotted. Started to build a strategy... And then... Then things started to be really, really fun. I found my nick well placed in the middle of the lists, with a good amount of kills, and already some totally awesome, memorable moments richer.
... Then Deus Ex came and took over all my gaming time. :D
But just know: You *will* be seriously owned at first. This is totally normal. But you will also get better - trust me!
Just hang in there, and do not compare this to a single player experience - there are no babysitting whatsoever, no "tutorial maps". Now you are playing against the ultimate "AI": Humans. And they are out to get you. ;)

Yeah ya know.....all I wanted to do is stop into the subway platforms & hand out these Hari Krishna cards, but all those big meanies weren't having any part of it.
Beamboom, thanks for all the 411.
I kind of understood that since I'm not a normasl(as opposed to abnormal, LOL)MP mode player, I'd get owned time & time again, but hell, I thought that I'd get to see at least 1 enemy, or at the very least, get 1 single measly live round off, but...nooooooo.
LOL.
I'm not quite sure if was just because I just sucked, or it was due to unseen campers swamped out but I usually didn't get more then 10 steps into the subway before I sent right back to H E Double L, over & over & over again.
Or a bit of both.
****spoiler alert????****
The 1 & only time I was actually able to get any further inbound was when I followed a squad rushing in & went a side way through where all the overhead pipework was. Then we crossed over the tracks, down a hallway leading to a room.
Now, by this time I was being quite overly-cautious since I was now a bit shellshocked by now, due to have already been KIA over 35 time within seconds prior to this, so I gave my 6-7 guys about about a 5-yard lead ahead of me.
But when I turned the corner into the room after my guys, the the only thing I saw was... 1 enemy right straight smack dab up in my face & all I heard was 1 quick pop, & damned if I wasn't %$*%^&$^# KIA'ed again.
I haven't a clue to what happened to all my squad-mates that had just slightly ahead of me, they just completely disappeared altogether, with no firefight, or even any sounds of guns ablazing. It was like they just magically disappeared into the wall before the enemy saw them. So I don't know if they glitched away or what happened to them cause there's no way they could've passed by this one enemy.
But, I hate being a quitter, so I'm re-loading the beta right now to give it another try.
But I think that this time to give myself a better chance, I'll log on in the middle of the night, just in the hopes that most of the campers will already have retired to their pup-tents for the night.
But just to make sure I have an better play-through this time, I'll also be downing whole box of "LUCKY" Charms first.

The funny part was that while being under the floor in the vast space of nothingness... I could shoot and kill people from... the floor lollll Super surprise attack!
But the controls are pretty tight and the maps are pretty awesome.
Some people complain about having trouble differencing enemies and allies... But all your allies have this little green/blue arrow on their heads so... I don't know so far I didn't get any trouble with it. No arrow = GUN IT TILL IT IMPLODES

1) just be careful about letting a BETA set your tone. I've seen countless BETA's sometimes not even having the same visual quality with the release. I'd reserve judgement for the release.
2) MW3 gameplay trailers, that I've seen, are still prerendered and scripted. I wouldn't be surprised to see a dip in quality from trailer to game.

I just hope they fix the texture issues. at times there are texture streaming and if you're running it will give you a vertigo view and push you a bit back behind lag , sometimes when i run through a hole or crawl , the texture breaks and makes me fall into the void of horribleness.
i seriously think they should try and fix the texture issue so we can test on the beta and make sure we're done with it and get on with the damn game, cause i want it!

Day 1 - I didn't like it.
Day 2 - Started to grow on me.
Now - I might not buy MW3.
This game is something special.
