September's Top 20 For The PSN: Retro Lovin'
Everyone's lovin' the retro stuff.
Sony has announced the top 20 best-selling PlayStation Network titles for last month, and half the list consists of old-school releases and reimaginings. It's just so cool.
The Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection was #1 in September; the great assembly of golden-age arcade goodness includes ports of the very first Mortal Kombat, along with Mortal Kombat II and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. The newly released Resident Evil 4 drops into the second spot, Ubisoft's interesting play-God title From Dust comes in at #3, and Angry Birds and Resident Evil 2 round out the top five. Here's the full list:
- 1. Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection
- 2. Resident Evil 4
- 3. From Dust
- 4. Angry Birds
- 5. Resident Evil 2
- 6. Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
- 7. Castlevania: Harmony of Despair
- 8. Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition
- 9. Limbo
- 10. Final Fantasy VII
- 11. Resident Evil Director's Cut
- 12. Parasite Eve II
- 13. Burnout Crash!
- 14. Elemental Monster Online Card Game
- 15. Breath of Fire IV
- 16. Saints Row 2
- 17. Renegade Ops
- 18. Call of Duty Classic
- 19. Castle Crashers
- 20. Battlefield 1943
Looking at this list, I have to apologize for not getting more downloadable reviews done. But given the time of year, I have to prioritize, although I swear I'll get to that Harmony of Despair review at some point. I can really only focus on the vouchers they send me for review; fortunately, I don't get codes for all the new digital games on the PSN...unfortunately, I seem to get codes for most.
For the record, A Crysis review should be coming this weekend, and a Sideway: New York review this week.

I'm glad MK Arcade collection made the first place. It's an excellent Collection. Resident Evil 4 HD is another GREAT game. I wonder how much sales RECV HD has (for sale the LAST week of September). Thanks to PS+ I have Resident Evil Games from 1 to 5, I wonder if that "Best-selling" list is counting PS+ free games ("best-selling" vs Downloaded)?

But yeah, From Dust looks to be a really interesting title, the demo was great. However it will have to wait, I gave Crysis priority. Gotta love that suit.
Will be interesting to read your review on that one Ben! I got my clear opinions about it and it will be fun to see if they match yours.

as ive said a billion times, a old retro game is 100000 times more fun then todays games!
hopefully this will give $ony more confidence to do more HD remakes.
why one of the best series to ever hit the system has not been done yet is beyond me!
i mean come on, R&C is one of the most popular, most beloved playstation franchises out there!
so wheres the HD remake?
