Kojima Just Can't Seem To Get Away From Metal Gear Solid
Yes, Hideo Kojima wants to try something new. He has wanted to try something new for a while, in fact.
But he remains dedicated to his baby: Metal Gear Solid. In fact, in speaking at USC this week, the master said he would love to see the legendary franchise continue after he dies. "I will always want to still make them," Kojima said.
But at the same time, should we typecast this visionary video game maker? Should he be restricted from making fresh endeavors? Of course he should be allowed to branch out, but Kojima admits that whenever he tries to hand off a MGS installment to other people at the studio, it never goes quite right.
"But as a creator, of course, I want to do something new, and I don’t want to be limited to Metal Gear forever, right? So of course I have tried in the past. I’ve tried to hand Metal Gear off to other people within the studio and I’ve tried to raise people up so they have the ability to take over. And I think since Metal Gear Solid 3 I’ve tried this and actually did hand it off and have other people come up with the story and come up with the game design. But for some reason it just never really works out. And, you know, I end up having to step in again to take charge and kind of fix things here and there and just get sucked back in unfortunately."
Boy, can't you just picture that? The perfectionist who puts his faith in some talented guys, but he just can't let them do everything they want...the call of MGS is just too strong for Kojima, and we can understand that. Still, we'd love to see something entirely new from this guy.

Also, I just have this feeling that Wii-U's technical abilities is just gonna get stomped on by Sony's and MS's next machine, again. If it's a 3 way mult-plat, we'd have to have to worry about that lowest common denominator again since Wii is finally going HD. To be fair, we haven't really seen anything from the console yet, but knowing Nintendo with their 3DS and Wii, I don't think it's gonna be too advanced.

I think the eventual MGS5 will probably be the sequel to Peace Walker that he hinted at sometime ago.
I have a hard time believing that he didn't want to make MGS4, i mean he left a whole bunch of unanswered questions with MGS2, and then he was just going to pass 4 off to somebody else?

He left MGS2 open for the next generation to take over and that's what was supposed to happen with 3.
MGS2 banged on about that theme of future generations learning from the past, with the opening cinematic showing Hieroglyphics which montages through the ages up until the present digital age. Then you have the philosophical ending monologue which bats it home further.
So Kojima is talking truth.

no seriously, every day hes on twitter saying id like to do this, id like to do a new MGS, id like to do a taboo game, id like to do ZOE3!
if he spent half as much time making games as he did talking about them we would be on ZOE6 by now!
less talky more dooey!

As for Metal Gear, well i'm standing my ground in saying it is OVER. How many more prequels can they really get away with? doing an MGS4 set after MGS4 is an impossibility ( and trust me, I've heard all the theories...) but I say this in honesty, I think Metal Gear has finished, if they do anymore it will just be forced.

Are they gonna keep making more spin-offs and prequels? Or they're gonna reboot the series?
Or will they surprise everyone with another sequel like how Microsoft did with Halo 4?
I don't like where this is going...........
That being said, I'll still buy it though, despite what I said, I'm a gamer and I'll buy what's good.

And if there's another game with Snake in it, then that'll just be terrible. MGS4 was a great ending to a legend, and needs not continue. Both BB and Snake have really interesting arcs to them and the changes and developments that are instilled in them game by game are remarkable.
They're the same at their core, but their perception of the world and how they feel always changes. I love that about the series. Snake has nothing left to do, BB can continue to build his army. That's it.
I say close it out with a final game on the PS3 with Big Boss that is the ultimate prequel to the original Metal Gear. Then the circle shall be complete. No more.
But I know that won't happen. MGS is a money maker and the best series ever (IMHO) to some like myself. It's critically and financially successful and I'll find it hard for Konami to stop making these games.
I just hope it doesn't get absurd. Rising could be good, but probably won't be, because it just doesn't feel like a Metal Gear game. I like the idea of hunter stealth, but the story sounds weak.
I dunno, I hope Kojima can do something new because from a story and game design standpoint, he's done as much as he can with this epic and beautiful series.

That said, I would probably buy an MGS5 because Kojima made it, but it would not feel right. So cmon Kojima, make something new, or get to work on ZOE3. Just do something other than MGS.
