Netflix: No Qwikster, Video Games Still Up In The Air
Hey, you can't go back on the announcement! Netflix members want video games!
After the movie subscription service jacked its rates by as much as 60% this past summer, the company announced a drastic change: the Netflix brand would offer on-demand movie streaming at its website, while a newly branded addition, Qwikster, would deal with the physical copies sent via mail.
But that isn't going to happen right now. In a recent blog update, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings says they've shelved plans to make the aforementioned split. Therefore, no Qwikster and Netflix users will just keep doing business as usual; the site will be used for both physical media and streaming content. Hastings just believes the re-branding would've made "things more difficult" for consumers.
As a result, it doesn't appear as if Netflix will adopt games. According to GameSpot, the company is "still considering" adding interactive entertainment to their repertoire.
Well, there's always GameFly.
