Go For The Big Score In PAYDAY On October 18

It's one of those games that could steal a lot of your time away, especially if you love the multiplayer aspect.

Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) has announced that PAYDAY: The Heist will be available on the PlayStation Store on October 18. Dubbed a "high-intensity, squad-based, FPS," we'll take on the virtual role of a career criminal. ...oh, take it easy, anti-game activists.

An online co-op shooter featuring six dynamic heists in a variety of urban settings, players will have to use strategy and teamwork. You'll have to survive "constant pursuit of ever increasing numbers of law enforcement and its adaptive police tactics," so players must work together to nail the "big score."

We'll definitely have to take a look at this one. By the way, expect a Sideway: New York review later today; it's another intriguing new downloadable game that launched this week.

Is October 18th the real date this time? I pre-ordered it a few weeks ago when it was supposed to come out Oct 4 but Overkill changed the release date the day before release.

The bank robbery scene from the movie Heat is one of my favorites of all-time, and I always thought it would be really cool if a developer figured out a way to make a game out of it... and here we are. My only complaint is that I think it might be better to have to cops controlled by human players as well, but I'm sure they have a reason for doing things a certain way. Hopefully it turns out well.

Beamboom,

This is that game that some users will wind up getting at no charge, if they had bought that "buy-4, get Payday free" deal, Sony was just running.

Oh. I must admit I've never paid much attention to the PSN store and their eventual offerings - up until now I've found the games there to be ridiculously overpriced anyway.

But things are starting to look brighter even on that part of the gaming map.
