If you saw Wanted in the theaters last year, you may have thought to yourself 'hey, this would make a badass videogame if done right'. The folks at Warner Bros. thought the very same thing, and so they've been developing such a thing after production began on the movie. Titled Wanted: Weapons of Fate, the game takes place as another chapter in the Wanted universe, instead of being based directly on the movie.

Gameplay is done strictly from the third-person perspective, and the game will utilize a cover mechanic that'll allow you not only to protect yourself, but also give you the opportunity to setup your curve shots. Of course, a Wanted videogame would be nothing without the ability to curve your bullets just like the Fraternity can. While you won't be pulling off any flicking controls to trigger these curves, you'll have to settle for pre-determined angles, sort to speak, that you can manipulate with your analog sticks. It's a little tricky to explain, but the best way to describe it is it's somewhat close to how you aim grenade throws in certain FPS games, complete with an aiming arc.

So when you're taking cover and aiming, you'll be able to adjust this arc. When the arc is red, that means you have an obstacle in the way that'll block the bullet from a hit. When it is white, your path is clear, but you'll still have to aim successfully at your opponent. You can fire as many as four shots simultaneously, and with that you can either deliver one brutal blow to an enemy, or spread the bullets out and attempt four kills.

Now, don't think that taking cover and curving bullets is the only way to play, because there are run-and-gun segments where the enemies are in plain sight ready to be taken out. In addition to curving bullets, you can also engage Assassin Time, which we assume is just another term for the status-quo Bullet Time. With developers GRIN behind the project (of Bionic Commando fame), we have high hopes for this game. From what we've gathered of the gameplay, Weapons of Fate seems to be coming along fairly well.

As far as the story goes, the game picks up directly where the movie ends, and you'll take part in controlling a series of different characters, including Wesley, Cross, and others. Notable voice actors will provide their talents to the game, unfortunately Jolie, Freeman, and McAvoy don't seem to be reprising their roles. But, Common will voice Brummel, Paz Vega will voice Araña, Terence Stamp returns as Pekwarsky, Thomas Kretschmann returns as Cross, and Peter Stormare voices The Immortal.

Games into movies, and movies into games just isn't exactly a good Hollywood formula that they know how to make. The Wanted movie itself wasn't really great to begin with so I don't see this raising the bar much higher.

I think it will just fail miserably, but hey I hope I'm wrong and it's good. Too bad I can't control that bullet with my sixaxis.
