The hit TV show Prison Break seems like it'd almost be the ideal videogame. It has all the elements necessary to make a great game, such as stealth, action, tension, and good writing. But the tricky part is doing a good job of translating all of those elements onto a medium that isn't related to Hollywood. And developer Zootfly, who created the project, better hope they've done just that.

More or less following the story of the first season, the game puts you into the shoes of Agent Tom Paxton. You are sent out to the Fox River State Penitentiary to find out everything you can about prisoner Michael Scofield. In the show, Paxton wonders why Scofield decided to become a bank robber out of the blue, never even having a past criminal record, and for the game you get to witness key events from the eyes of Tom Paxton.

To make this shift in perspectives feel genuine, the game's story and game design was actually developed with the help of the show's writers. Because you get to see a new side of the Prison Break experience, cutscenes of these key moments bring an all new vantage point for the fan to see.

Gameplay will consist of stealth missions, each mission complete with multiple solutions. Action will boast close-quarters hand-to-hand combat that features an assortment of special and finishing moves - let's just hope the mechanics are smooth and fluid. In addition, Zootfly promises an interactive environment that'll help develop your character. We're not quite sure what that's supposed to mean, but perhaps there's a character upgrade mechanic of some sort.

For you perfectionists, achievements and trophies are promised for both version of the game, so worry not. Furthermore, to help ensure the Prison Break atmosphere is proper, nearly every single actor from the series has contributed his/her voice for the game. And visually, I doubt many will be impressed by the graphics the game has to offer, but if the developer can offer a compelling experience that plays well, than we can always overlook aesthetics.

Prison Break will launch March 16th.

Wonder if it has any QTE's? I've always felt they were very effective in translating tension to the gamer at least when it's used correctly, so i hope it has some.

That show wasn't any good, prison breaks make better movies than shows. Mental Hospital escapes make the best games (Manhunt 2)

Season 1 of the show was great. Then it was all downhill from there. The show "jumped the shark" when Sarah turned out to be still alive. Who doesn't recognize a friends dead head in a box?! I wasted too much of my time watching that show in hopes that it'd get better.

The fear this game's target audience is long gone.

o cool this could be allot of fun.
i can see the fox news headlines now.
"tonight with a breaking story, a video game that teaches you how to break out of prison."
as long as its not like that pathetic movie shutter island.
went to see it last night and jesus christ nothing has confused and bored me that much in my entire life!
i normally enjoy that type of movie but it was a true bore fest!
just did not know when to end.
and it spends the whole movie proving to you something is not real, than in the last second of the movie points to a location that suggests or is it?
if your going to hint at something you cant have another hint steaming in disproving that one.
OMG im lost, seriously never has a movie confused me so much.
meh, im done contemplating it.

Prison Break was one of my favorite shows but I'm going to have to take a huge pass on the game.
