Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford railed against comparisons between his game and Fallout 3 and said, "Borderlands isn't as 'boring.'" Now, you may not appreciate this comment if you're a fan of the that top-notch RPG but you have to understand his meaning: he's simply saying that Borderlands is more action-oriented; it's the perfect blend between FPS and RPG. If you're still on the fence regarding a purchase, check out this gameplay vid and you'll see just how intense an encounter can be. That's one nasty monster...and there are many more to face down, too.
