The latest ambitious RPG on the immediate horizon is Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, and here's the opening cinematic. It has a more colorful visual style than a game like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, but it's not exactly catoony. And don't let that slightly more lighthearted exterior fool you; there's plenty of depth for the hardcore role-playing fan.
