PSXE Poll Update: Most Won't Pay For The Upgraded Lara

The Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition for next-gen consoles features a horde of really cool upgrades and content.

However, although quite a few are indeed planning to pick up the elite version of last year's accomplished adventure games, most of our readers say they'll be passing.

The majority of participants in our latest poll said they're simply not interested, while the second-largest group said they've already played the successful reboot, and that's good enough for them. This may be the problem developer Crystal Dynamics encounters when the Definitive Edition launches at the end of this month: Those who already played it don't want to shell out $60 for the upgraded version, despite all the admittedly great updates. As for those who didn't play it, maybe they didn't 'cuz they weren't interested in the first place.

Anyway, moving on to the current console war, we want to know what you think about Sony's early lead. As most everyone knows by now, the PlayStation 4 sold 4.2 million units in 2013, significantly more than Microsoft's Xbox One, which came in at 3 million. Sony has downplayed that Round 1 victory, but do you think it's a crucial win?

I won't be getting Tomb Raider, but I haven't played it, I'm just not into it right now. But from others perspectove, listen it's the same game. So what physics are better. That's great! It really is but it doesn't change the game that's already been played. It's like buying the game twice. This is the same reason I tried telling my friends who only play CoD and BF4 that buying a PS4 wasn't a good investment. They didn't listen, but you will get the same experience.

Pretty much for folks who liked it so much they want the best version or all versions. When I like a game I'll get the portable version too just to be complete even if it isn't as good as the console version.

I'm sure the game is great but with Gran Turismo and soon to be released Castlevania, Dark Souls and finally, MGS5 Ground Zeroes... Why would I dedicate time to this? Not a bit interested.

Not a Lara game fan anymore and not interest to pick it up on the PS3 or PS4.

And to be honest, not sure about Naughty Dog potentially porting Last of Us to the PS4, but will admit... it would probably do well for those new to Sony world and not have played it on the PS3.

Keep playing!

Thoroughly enjoyed TR last Gen, I don't think the difference warrants a next Gen purchase for me though.

Sony's early lead is just that, early. It would not suprise me if the XB1 makes a strong come back because of the American public. That being said I'm not really into the console war anymore, still Sony biased however.

They should be kind and drop it to $40, generate more interest. I'm starting to think I might wait on a price drop myself, we'll see.

I just finished that game about 3 months ago. It was pretty good and I really enjoyed it, but I really don't feel the need to pick it up again. If you haven't already played it, getting this version seems awesome.

I paid only $10 for the pc version with dlc and I loved it, so when I get my ps4 I'll get the updated version. Not for $60, but when it price drops I'll buy it and replay it.

I'll get it when I get my PS4. I figure X-Gen may as well get the "best" version, and I haven't played it yet, so BONUS!

I vote the second option this week. A 4:3 lead is nothing to sneeze at, especially when the US sales are much closer than they were in the PS360 days. And then you have to consider the Japan factor, where the PS4 is all but guaranteed to go gangbusters. MS may be looking into making more Japan-centric games, but they tried that at the inception of the last generation too and failed miserably.

But, sales man. They're important for Sony, but shouldn't we be more interested in the games available for the respective systems? ;)
