Sledgehammer Games Cranking On A "Next-Gen" Call Of Duty?
Good. Maybe a new development team can infuse new life into a franchise that is, for all intents and purposes, stale. We can hope.
It seems that Sledgehammer Games is staffing up to handle a next-gen Call of Duty installment. This is according to CVG citing LinkedIn job listings for the aforementioned studio.
Sledgehammer is looking for a multiplayer designer, concept artist and senior animator, among other things. These job listings say the team is working on a "next-gen" CoD entry, which means a release for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. If you'd forgotten, Sledgehammer was originally formed to work on a third-person spin-off way back in 2009. However, that idea was scrapped and the studio assisted Infinity Ward with the creation and production of Modern Warfare 3. Now, it appears that Activision is giving Sledgehammer a chance to shine by helming a new CoD all by themselves.
The publisher did confirm that a new Call of Duty would be launching later in 2014. That may or may not be the title for which Sledgehammer is currently hiring; gotta get some official details.
