The Witcher 3 On PS3, 360? Impossible, Says Developer
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is one of the most ambitious titles of the new generation. So crazy ambitious, in fact, that it couldn't possibly work on the current video game systems.
That's what CD Projekt RED CEO Marcin Iwinski told MCV India in a recent interview. In regards to the idea of the massive new RPG on the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, he said:
"It’s impossible. It would have to be a different game--a smaller game, not an open-world game, or with terrible loading times, with sacrifices in graphics."
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is slated for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, so you had best have a new console (or a worthy PC) when this bad boy launches. Furthermore, don't expect to see The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings on the PS3 any time soon, either. Said Iwinski:
"We definitely would have loved to, but The Witcher 2 on PC was so big that making it work on Xbox 360 took us a year. The Xbox 360 was a more powerful and easier-to-code-on platform than PS3, so that would have taken us another year or year-and-a-half."
These things take a while, obviously. But did you notice that he said the PS3 was less powerful than the Xbox 360? That isn't really true, is it? As for the PS4/Xbox One versions of the anticipated RPG, Iwinski said they'll be similar to the PC version because in truth, the new consoles are "actually brand new PCs," anyway.
Whatever. I just wanna see it.
