Can You Predict The Highest Scoring Game Of 2014?

Obviously, we don't know all the video games that will release in 2014. But based on what you know now, which one will the critics love most?

Bear in mind that there are multiple factors to consider, especially when we're talking about next-gen titles where the expectations could be - and often are - through the roof.

If Uncharted 4 came out this year, I'd pick that one. Unfortunately, it seems Naughty Dog scoffs at the idea that it'll launch in 2014 (if we're correctly interpreting that dismissal). The previous two Uncharted installments were two of the highest-scoring games of the generation and in fact, of all time. Naughty Dog just does amazing things, plain and simple.

Another contender might be Thief, even though I imagine it'd be a dark horse contender for Game of the Year. Don't forget that this franchise has a ton of respect from veteran gamers; hence, many critics may go easy on its flaws. We've been waiting on a new Thief for a long time and if it's done correctly, the stealth aficionados will be dancing in the streets. Then again, I suppose there's a chance that this title could be one of the biggest disappointments, too... The fans can be picky.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a worthy pick, even if CD Projekt RED can deliver on half of what it claims. Given its potential revolutionary size and depth, this anticipated sequel could redefine the nature of the open-world RPG. Destiny might do the same for multiplayer-oriented, open-world shooters, and Bungie has a fantastic track record. They're the guys who made Halo, remember? Speaking of which, I guess Halo 5 has a shot at being the best reviewed game of 2014, even though I say it's been overrated since the second entry on Xbox.

So, what's your pick? Could it be Watch Dogs? The new Assassin's Creed? An unexpected masterpiece like inFamous: Second Son? Remember, the first two games didn't exactly score off the charts, strangely enough.

I'm gonna play it safe and say Uncharted 4 as well, followed by Infamous: Second Son and Watch Dogs in that order.

I hope Watch Dogs kinda gets the GOTY and some epic reviews because it would encourage more companies to create more new games, instead of making sequel after sequel.
We don't need to get to the next generation with Call of Duty Modern Black Ops Ghost warfare 2.

I don't know why, but I kinda wish they would make a Call of Duty Modern Black Ops Ghost Warfare now.

I would be completely satisfied if COD brought back the Special Ops missions from MW2. I had so much quality time on just those missions. Let's put the word out.

Well I'm not sure how the news peeps will see it, but for me personally it's going to be Infamous: Second Son.

No doubt.

Do you mean Ground Zeroes... We won't be getting The Phantom Pain until 2015, guarantee it.

My sense is Ground Zeroes is going to be much more and much better than the simple "demo" some dismiss it as, but it will be hard to see a game that is, by the developer's admissions, just an introduction to something coming down the line that will be the real, full product earning top game of the year awards. I'm super excited for it though!

@UltimaDesires---Note: MGS5: Ground Zeroes. Just because it's not Phamton Pain or because it doesn't cost $59.99 doesn't mean that it won't be great or that it's not part of MGS5.

Anything Hideo Kojima treats like his baby always does well. Even MGS2 which a lot of people did not like was very good.

Oh I know, I have it pre-ordered for a damn good price, really looking forward to playing it. Part of the problem the problem is they have showed pretty much the entire structure of the game already, we already know the fate of Mother base and the people BB has to collect from the base, it was all shown in the trailer. The Phantom Pain seems to be where the real meat of the story is so that is the game I am really waiting for.

I get GZ's release and I am happy we don't have to wait until 2015 to play it but regarding content I'm not getting too worked up for it.

As for MGS2, I love it, its my favourite Metal Gear for gameplay and the cliffhanger at the ending is pretty much the best within gaming, pre-MGS4 it stumped everyone. If anything it was Peace Walker I wasn't fond of it was fun to play but the story was just baggage, it didn't really cover anything remarkable. I hope GZ offers at least one boss encounter - also on that note, I hope The Phantom Pain offers boss fights with characters I care for than just mechs. I'm hoping for a sniper battle with Quiet on the open world structure, if it is anything like the End from MGS3 it'll be worth the purchase alone.

I get a funny feeling that Titanfall is gonna be way up there... Maybe Destiny or The Division. Personally, I'm rooting for Thief, Watch_Dogs or inFamous: Second Son, but I get the funny feeling that they will all only wind up with mid-to-high eights.

Yeah that's too bad. It doesn't belong on a Nintendo console. I don't know where to buy it, either. I mean, I don't have a Wii. But I've never seen it in a store before. And I've looked out of curiosity.

No who ever was in charge of distributing the game utterly failed. The US only got it released because of the campaign and even with that there were a low supply of copies. It also didn't help that it was released at the end of the Wii's lifespan - if Xenoblade 2 is released on PS4, I'll sell my Wii-U and keep my Wii, if for some abstract reasoning it ever turned up on Xbox... I think I would cry.

ive gotta go for either thief, the evil within, murdered soul suspect, or wolfenstein the new order.
just because there really unique titles that we really rarely see so i really want to see them do really well, then maybe they wont be so dime a dozen.
more likely probably watch dogs, witcher 3, elder scrolls online, destiny, titanfall, the division, or quantum break.
really looking forward to the last one remedy always make such amazing engrossing characters and worlds!

I wouldn't be surprised to see the new Super Smash Bros. or Mario Kart 8 gather the highest average review score of 2014, as I think Nintendo first party games generally don't receive as many overwhelmingly negative reviews as games on other platforms. That said, I wouldn't count out Dark Souls II accumulating a 90+ average. Just my opinion anyway.

The Order: 1886 will surprise us all, hopefully in positive way. If Uncharted 4 will be release this year then it must be so ready and steady that it can top over The Last of Us, but if this is Naughty Dogs main goal, then uncharted will be released next year. Watch Dogs have a chance to get GOTY, but i want to believe that this year will be also a Sony exclusive dominance.

I don't understand the hype for The Order 1886, we haven't even seen any gameplay yet, need it remind you how Dead Island stunned the world with that beautiful cgi trailer and how the game turned out to be below average...

Little doubt Titanfall is going to score very well. But by releasing so early in the year it's going to have a tough time maintaining momentum. Come December, are we all going to be sick to death of a multiplayer game we've seen every inch of about a million times over?

True, I only say titanfall because every journalist who has played it is like crappy themselves about it.

I just think its probably going to score big based on how much love it gets when people go hands on.

Although to me it doesn't look that special, fun yes but nothing to amazing.

I'll go with Destiny, simply because the pedigree of the developer, coupled with the time they've taken to (hopefully) get the game just right, bodes well. I think Titanfall is going to get very, very good reviews, though I'm skeptical the hype will still be going come December. I'm super intrigued to see how they integrate story or context to a purely multiplayer game, but I just can't imagine the game staying THAT interesting through December.

I am going to say it will be a game that hasn't been announced as of right now. But out of all the games that have been listed, I will pick Thief. I have extremely high expectations for that game. I love stealth and I absolutely loved Dishonored and from all reports that is what Thief is looking like. A stealth game in a Dishonored type of environment. That just reeks of goodness.
