PlayStation Now Beta Invites Going Out

When PlayStation Now was announced earlier this month, we learned that a beta test would be rolling out soon.

Sony has started sending the first wave of beta invites for the new streaming service, which is designed to bring PS3 games to your PS4, Vita, phone, tablet, or Bravia TV. The only question is- have you seen your invite yet?

If you did, you have to accept Sony's beta license agreement, and then you'll receive more info "in the coming days." Interestingly, they also recommend that participants connect their PS3 to the Internet via a wired connection that registers at least 5Mbps. As for Now, it's a Netflix-style streaming subscription service designed specifically with gamers in mind. By the way, this beta is only available to US residents (at least for the time being.).

PlayStation Now should be ready to go this summer. If you're looking for older classics from the PS1 and PS2 generations, a recent report claims those will come to the PS4 via local emulation.

I wonder if it would work for me, my internet is 50, I regularly get around 10, and even though my wireless signal is at 90% my PS3's download number rarely gets up to 2.

For me i pay for 20 and i get 22 always … a lot of my friends in usa too pay for 50 and get very little not even close to what they pay for … its a weird trend.I lived in usa all my life , just moved to mexico and i can say the internet is better here but we have optic fiber , which i think is why when i pay for 20mbps i get higher like around 22 , and in us i think most sips do not use optic fiber yet World.

Very weird that your ps3 only gets 2 mbps , I'm getting 22 with my 20mbps plan , wireless too , but we have optic fiber here i think thats the key difference all my friends that pay for 50 and up get less than my 20mbps plan i always get 22ish and i pay for 20, i think because of optic fiber , they run the optic fiber from my room all the way to the light post outside which is like 50feet or more , i think that improves my speed i can up to 200mbps but that would be unnecessary spending .

World you should contact your provider and get that fixed or switch companies. Most companies guarantee at least 80% of what you're paying for. What you're paying for and getting isn't right, either there is a problem with it or they've over sold their bandwidth and you should look elsewhere.

I live in a small town and I have regular old dsl and I get a steady 10mb connection. If you're living where 50 is offered you should be able to get much more than 10.

Plus my ps3 uses a wireless connection and tests at 9 regularly.

One thing you have to remember about ISP's is causes of latency. For cable internet, the more people in your neighborhood with cable internet, the slower your connection will be. For DSL or Fiber, it usually depends on how far you are from the main box. I am less than a mile from the nearest AT&T terminal so I get close to 20 on my 18 Max service. I have a friend who has the 30 meg charter but sees around 10 because so many people around him also have charter.

@World Sometimes the technician is supposed to show up to your home with a pair of defibrillators and check the status of your connections. Bring them bad boys back to life. I would call your provider and ask them if they can send a technician over free of charge. You have to let them know about your problems.

We have this saying, "Bebe que no llora, Bebe que no mama".

Sony is just looking for multiple ways to let Fans play Older games
Sony also is trying to implement software that allows the PS4 to play disk based PS1 and PS2 games

Sony is trying to please the devs and newer fans with playstation Now
while their trying to work on software that pleases the older long time fans

What makes you think sony wants to release the ps2 emulator to let us play our disc based ps2 games? They have a ps2 emulator emulator on the ps3 already they just choose not to release. They much rather have us purchase their limited selection of ps2 classics on the psn store.

I used to get invited to everything. :(

Either I got too old or Sony doesn't love me anymore.

I'm confused. I thought the whole point of the PS Now idea was to be able to stream older games to the PS4. Why is everyone talking about how fast their PS3's connect? Shouldn't this service be for the PS4? Just wondering.

Still confused. I was under the impression that it was going to stream PS3 games. Why would you need this service on the PS3? PS1 and PS2 games are coming to the PS4 via emulation so it makes no sense to stream PS3 games to the PS3 when you can already play them.

typical $ony, US gets the world and everyone else gets the crumbs!
and the US has one of the WORST internet connections in the WORLD!
even were doing better, hell i just signed up a new contract to upgrade my speed from 80 to 100!
and mind you thats on our old crappy deteriorated copper network, once we finally get fiber optics its gonna go through the roof!
good old apple are the first company to start selling 802.11ac wifi compatible laptops too, so my new macbook pro retina and airrport express are able to take advantages of that.
amazing how much quicker it is now, i mean before it was great downloading whole games in a hour or so but now its even quicker!
