Sony Proudly Reveals UK Sales Ratio In Favor Of PS4
Sony is gaining back lost ground all over the globe.
Perhaps it's most notable in the US, where Microsoft's Xbox 360 dominated the region for seven years or so. However, after the reign of the PS2, Sony slipped in just about every major region with the PS3. The PS4 is allowing them to gain in back, though, as evidenced by what PlayStation UK boss Fergal Gara told the audience during an event in London.
As cited by GameSpot, Gara revealed that the ratio of PS4 to Xbox One sales in the UK is currently at about 1.5:1. He was obviously happy to announce that, because he also admitted that Sony told him last year that PlayStation needed "recapture the UK market." They lost too much ground to Microsoft over the past generation, and Gara said the company needed to "rediscover some grit."
Gara then revealed that Sony's market share in both home and portable consoles in the UK grew from 23 percent to 40 percent in just the last two years. Undoubtedly, the PS4 helped with those numbers. Earlier, Sony announced that the PS4 was the fastest-selling game machine in UK history.
Sony also took the opportunity to announce the new Vita slim for the region.
