Sony Hints At Titanfall On PS4: It's Just A Matter Of Time?

Titanfall isn't coming to the PlayStation 4. At least, not yet.

This is what SCEE Brand Manager Alex Moyet implied when she Tweeted about the possibility of the anticipated title coming to Sony's new platform. It was cited at Gamepur but soon after, the Tweet in question disappeared.

It read:

"Nah we might have to wait another year or so but I've got a good feeling it'll come to PS4."

That's a common belief but to hear it from a high-ranking Sony executive is very intriguing. It's all the more interesting that the Tweet vaporized soon after it hit headlines around the web. Developer Respawn Entertainment is an independent developer, so they can put their game on any platform they choose...perhaps after their exclusivity deal with Microsoft runs out.

It's not all that surprising that Respawn sides with MS. Remember, this studio was formed by ex-Infinity Ward members Vince Zampella and Jason West, and IW is well-known for their Call of Duty efforts. CoD has proven more popular on the Xbox platform, which is part of the reason why all DLC for that franchise continues to debut first on Xbox.

As for Titanfall on PS4, do you want it?

Nah, not my thing, but I am sure for the MP fans it will be a must have.

As for the disappearing tweet. My guess is its to steal, somewhat, the thunder from MS by letting others know the possibility or probability of the game coming to the PS4. I put it down to truly sneaky marketing ploy. But if fans have to wait a year or so... not sure it will matter then.

Xbox has to my thinking been sold as a MP console. Sony more the single component on the last gen. Now Sony really has to sell its MP side of things to meet equal ground with MS. I do not think it will be hard to prove the console can do it. I think it will be hard to bring those over who are use to it being more an Xbox thing.

Regardless, it does not interest me, but for the Sony MP fans, would definitely be a good addition. Will have to see what the initial reviews are on the Xbox1 version first and then see if it comes to PS4 as the definitive version.

Keep playing!

Respawn had stated that the exclusivity for the life of the title with MS was a surprise to them - something that EA had worked out - and expressed it's something they don't want to happen again.

Perhaps "life of the title" exclusivity doesn't apply to a game of the year edition? I don't know.

This. I find it awfully hard to believe EA would ever commit as high profile a title as this to one platform -- that's selling less than the competition, no less -- for the rest of eternity. Their are always, always, ALWAYS loopholes around "exclusivity agreements." See my Street Fighter II comparison below :0

Perhaps the exec didn't hear the news that MS had received exclusivity "for life" and the post was removed once someone told him that it wasn't possible (and to avoid any more embarrassment of not knowing the goings-on in ones own industry). Besides after a year, how many copies would they actually sell when gamers know that a new one, available for the PS4, will be only a year away.

Titanfall doesn't interest me in the slightest. I will however, champion for the game on PS4 for my PS4 owning brethren that are interested in it.

If it comes over I guess that will be a good thing for fans of those kinds of games. I don't like Call of Duty and the like so I won't buy it either way.
Titanfall honestly gives me the impression of not really being that good or unique and something that the Xbox fanboys are just desperately clinging to. Like Haze was on PS3 for Sony fanboys.

Wow. Raise your hand if you remember "Street Fighter II: Special Championship Edition" for Sega Genesis... ;)

I'm not a big multiplayer FPS guy at all, but I sure do like big robots and I don't mind stepping out of my comfort zone into different genres from time to time. I would definitely check out Titanfall if it came to PS4. I'm sure as heck not buying an X1 for $500 to play it, though.

I'll never play it as FPS competitive multiplayer doesn't interest me much. If EA wants to emulate the success of CoD, annual releases are not out of the question. I think we'll be seeing Titanfall 2 released next Spring on both systems.

In all seriousness, that's a great, great point. Why wouldn't they blast they things out every year like almost every other huge third party game?

Yes, very good point. We'll get the sequel and that might not take long.

There's no denying the fact that a lot of people are looking forward to this game, but I myself cannot be bothered one bit. And I'm not just being a Sony fanboy before anyone accuses me of being one.

It's a first person shooter and I don't play those. Motion sickness tells me I'm better off not playing it. Sure, I may miss out on something good but it's not because I'm blinded by my platform of choice. Then there's the fact that it has no single player campaign. Nail on the coffin right there (on my books at least).

So no, not really. It'll be cool if it eventually comes to the PS4 but even if does, I don't really think I'll bother.

I can't tell you how many FPSs have made me so nauseous I had to lay down and stop playing. It's gotten easier as I've gotten older for some reason.

Funny thing is... I think the higher frame rates cause more nausea than lower. (for me, anyways)

Though, I don't have nausea anymore. Guess I'm just adapted to it now. But before, playing Quake on 60 fps would make me projectile puke... =/

Good to know I'm not the only one. LOL Yeah, I did play the first Doom game a long time ago and I could certainly relate with the projectile puke thing. OMG That was horrible. The game was fun, no denying that, but man did that do a number on me. Hahaha!

What would be depressing for me is if The Last of Us and the other games I loved were FPS. I can't even begin to imagine. LOL

I distinctly remember GoldenEye, four player splitscreen making me absolutely miserable. I think it's easier when I'm playing, as opposed to watching someone else play.

it does look like a good game and i was pretty amazed by the gameplay video until i saw it was like 12players online and the rest of the "players" were bots. Now if bf4 can do 64players it would have been nice to see at least 32.

Yes! Which means when it hits PS4 it will be totally updated and an even better game than it formally was in 2014.

I'd rather have an exclusive Final Fantasy, rather than some boring, meh looking FPS game.

Now if only M$ will do the decent thing and announce Gears Of War and Halo PS4 versions as well - then I can save myself $500.

Don't care for Titanfall but I understand a lot of people want to play it on their PS4 or PS3. I expect any sequel to appear on these consoles as long as the first game sells well. I'm very wary of any EA published game; I doubt the game will be released without any hitches. Maybe it's a good thing Sony video gamers won't have to deal with the Battlefield 4-like ordeals I expect.

Coming to PC, so the exclusivity deal doesn't bother me. The PC version is also getting 360 controller support which is neat for someone who's not used to gaming with a keyboard and mouse. (Grew up on consoles)

So long as XBOne games come out on PC as well, I have no problem sticking with PS3 and PS4.

Might pick up an XBOX One when Halo 5 comes out. My friends are obsessed with that series and it's all they'll be playing online for 6 months after it's released. Apart from the excellent orchestral score, I have no idea why they love it so much. Halo 3 online bored me to tears. Halo Reach finally made it fun though.

Apart from Halo, Forza Motorsport, Gears of War and Fable, there's not much that's exclusive to Xbox One.

Titanfall is coming to PC as well. Dead Rising 3 is considered average and Ryse was even more average. Killer Instinct is fun, but pretty limited compared to other 2.5D fighters out there like Street Fighter or Injustice.

The few exclusives on Xbox One that do interest me a little include:

- TitanFall (Also coming to PC, so does it still count?)

- Halo 5 (Pretty much the ONLY reason Xbox still exists. Also want to play online with friends)

- Gears of War (Loved Gears of War 1-3)

- Quantum Break (same developers who did Alan Wake, and Alan Wake was great!)

- Fable Legends (Online co-op almost mandatory, which is a shame since I loved the first 2 Fables for being brilliant single player adventure RPGs)

- Sunset Overdrive (Insomniac had better bring this to PS4 as well!! This XBOne exclusive is like a giant middle to finger to fans from the PS2 and PS3)

- Project Spark (like Littlebig Planet, but much more open-world. Also coming to PC)

- D4 (Dark Dreams Don't Die, by Hidetaka Suehiro, or SWERY65, the guy behind Deadly Premonition)

- Fantasia: Music Evolved (I love Harmonix, so am very interested in this)

And that's it. That's all the Xbox One exclusives (except for 2 titles also coming to PC)

And now for the PS4 exclusives that everyone wants because they are true quality. These include:

- Uncharted (everyone with a PS4 will get this)

- The Order 1886 (it's being hyped to ridiculous levels, here's hoping it can live up to it)

- Infamous Second Son (loved the first 2 Infamous games)

- Driveclub (the attention to detail is stunning!)

.... Wow. The exclusive list for big AAA titles is slightly shorter on PS4 than on Xbox One. That's a little surprising.

No doubt it will pick up and likely double what MS has planned when E3 rolls round and Sony shows off all their best kept secrets. (Like the Last Guardian, or a new God of War, or Gran Turismo on PS4)

I'm honestly having mixed opinions about Titanfall.
While it will certainly be one of the games I pick up on the Xbox One, it'd be more of an impulse buy, than a "I want this NOW" type of deal.

I must admit, the game does look somewhat interesting. To be able to play with both soldiers and mechs seems like it could be rather fun. However, the main game that I am looking forward to on the One isn't Titanfall, but rather Sunset Overdrive. When I saw the Sunset Overdrive E3 presentation, I practically lost it, and determined right then and there that I must own an Xbox One, just for the quirkiness of that game alone.
I am also really looking forward to Project Spark.

Still, that Sunset Overdrive. Insomniac is one of my favourite studios around, mostly for the awesomeness that was Spyro. (first three games on PS1)
Ratchet & Clank is an epic series, and Sunset Overdrive reminds me a bit of R&C. (Ratchet & Clank: Future Tools of Description was my first 'purchased' PS3 game. MotorStorm was a pack-in game)
