Dying Light "Humanity" Trailer Highlights A Desperate Situation

Techland's Dying Light is one of the most anticipated and ambitious games of the year.

The game blends multiple gameplay concepts into a fast-paced survival/horror package. There's some semblance of the free-running mechanic in Mirror's Edge, for instance, the zombie theme is reminiscent of the developer's Dead Island franchise, and the post-apocalyptic setting reminds one of The Last Of Us.

Put it all together, and you get a really intriguing game. Techland has released a new trailer today, called "Humanity," and it describes the desperate situation in which the player will find himself. The monsters - which used to be human - have essentially taken over the world, and you're just battling to survive. Scavenge for resources and weapons during the day; fight for your life at night.

Dying Light is slated to launch for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC later this year. For more, check out our in-depth preview.

I just watched the trailer and it's another first person shooter with zombies. I cannot call it Dead Island since it's not taking place on an island, but that's what it reminded me of. I'm just sick and tired of companies releasing FPS games just because that's what's selling nowadays. /rant

The last first person shooter that I played and purchased was Killzone:SF and it'll most likely be the last. I much rather play in third person. Come on Lords of Shadow 2, Dark Souls 2 and Ground Zeroes!

Man, I can't WAIT for this to come out. I really enjoyed Dead Island and Riptide so this should be right up my ally. Hopefully, it plays as good as it looks.

so cant wait for this!
it may look like dead island with parkour mixed in, but it actually couldnt be any more different!
the zombies are FAR smarter and more aggressive during the day, instead of relying on your weapons you need to set traps because theres allot more of them.
think dead rising 3 but with far more aggressive enemies.
so much fun rigging a car, than setting off the alarm to gain attention, than watching the red mist and meat fly!
only thing i hope they fix is dead island had a real gritty textured feel to the weapons and zombies, when you hack into them you feel like your cutting through flesh and bone.
where this the controls are extremely floaty, theres no inertia behind the weapons, and slicing through zombies feels like slicing the proverbial hot knife through butter.
i remember seeing the very first tech demo for dead island ages ago, where they were showing off diferent layers of skin and when you cut through the zombies you could actually see the different layers and densities of each layer, it was really impressive the detail.
but alas that never happened, hopefully they can bring it to this now especially that we have new systems!
