Kojima: PS4 Brings Us Closest To "Photorealistic Quality"

It has been an ongoing topic of conversation: The technical capabilities of the new next-gen consoles.

These discussions have been spurred on by many reports of PlayStation 4 games outstripping their Xbox One counterparts in terms of max resolution and frames per second. Games like the recently released Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition and the upcoming Watch Dogs were reported to run at 1080p and 60FPS on the PS4, while the Xbox One versions only managed 30 FPS. Same goes for last year's Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.

Now, one of the industry's premier designers has weighed in on the subject. As Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima told Famitsu (translated by DualShockers), the PS4 "is the best."

"I think, between the home consoles available in the domestic market, the PS4 is the best. It's also excellent for graphics, being able to render 1080p at 60fps with room to spare. Since it does it a little better than other hardware, the image quality of the PS4 is the most beautiful. It's the closest to the photorealistic quality we are aiming at."

Kojima recently said the PS4 version of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes looks "slightly better" than the Xbox One version. We don't yet know the exact resolution and frames per second output of MGSV, but we'll take Kojima's word concerning the PS4 version. All in all, things continue to look a little rosier for Sony.

I'm more intrigued now about the Ground Zeroes ending after one of the reporters said he was shocked. Hope Solid Snake is back.

I strongly second this! It is, after all, yet another Hideo Kojima MGS.

People have been throwing that phrase around so much lately.

"Ground breaking industry such and such"

I really don't think MGSV will have any affect on the gaming industry. MGS4 didn't.

COD is the only title that has had a ground breaking affect on the industry in recent times.

The hell happened to the systems being exactly the same? Did the bribe wear off or something?

Well I suppose if it did wear off, and he is actually making a MGS game like it was a Playstation exclusive, I'll give it a try.

With all these Developers coming out and saying PS4 is better, without stuttering, just shows how Sony currently has the better overall console.

That was my first thought.

I can't believe he would say this, although, he is walking a fine line.

Notice how he said "in the domestic market". Now if the domestic market is Japan, then we have no idea if or when the Xbox One will even become available in Japan. So the PS4 would be the only next-gen console in the Japanese domestic market. He could easily deny that he was supporting the PS4 over the Xb1.

SCDS

Do we really want that? I wonder... I don't HATE the X. Just don't particularly like it. Complete dominance staggers creativity... Most of the time anyway.

I am a massive proponent for photo realistic graphics so this news makes me very happy and prideful. To hear more evidence from a widely respected developer also reinforces what the PS4 specs compared to the X1 specs already prove. I believe we can have outstanding game play, story, control, sound and graphics together in a perfect union. Thank you Sony for not skimping on the PS4 specs like Microsoft skimped on the X1's.

Its a super good feeling when the console you backed gets the best support.

Its really weird this isnt on pc. Since from the sounds of it, Kojima will max the PS4 with The Phantom Pain.

exactly , bone cannot handle 1080p at 60fps or 1080p at all , i wouldn't pay for a next ten system that cannot do that , watch how hitler reacted to all this bone mess http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SL3FWd_dAqg

bone can't handle 180p and 60fps what a shame for the guys who bought that thinking they will experience next ten when they play on last ten graphics and performance.
