Kojima: PS4 Brings Us Closest To "Photorealistic Quality"
It has been an ongoing topic of conversation: The technical capabilities of the new next-gen consoles.
These discussions have been spurred on by many reports of PlayStation 4 games outstripping their Xbox One counterparts in terms of max resolution and frames per second. Games like the recently released Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition and the upcoming Watch Dogs were reported to run at 1080p and 60FPS on the PS4, while the Xbox One versions only managed 30 FPS. Same goes for last year's Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.
Now, one of the industry's premier designers has weighed in on the subject. As Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima told Famitsu (translated by DualShockers), the PS4 "is the best."
"I think, between the home consoles available in the domestic market, the PS4 is the best. It's also excellent for graphics, being able to render 1080p at 60fps with room to spare. Since it does it a little better than other hardware, the image quality of the PS4 is the most beautiful. It's the closest to the photorealistic quality we are aiming at."
Kojima recently said the PS4 version of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes looks "slightly better" than the Xbox One version. We don't yet know the exact resolution and frames per second output of MGSV, but we'll take Kojima's word concerning the PS4 version. All in all, things continue to look a little rosier for Sony.
