PSXE Poll Update: Frames Per Second Argument Is Tight

It remains a very complicated and hotly debated topic.

The technical capabilities of the next-gen consoles continue to get a lot of attention, especially in regards to the "FPS" argument. No, not first-person shooter; frames per second.

We're finding out that more PlayStation 4 titles are capable of putting out the maximum 60 frames per second, while the Xbox One counterparts are only pushing around 30FPS. We wanted to know if this was a big deal to you, and according to our latest poll, it definitely is. Well, for many, it's a top priority; for many others, it really depends on the game. However, it's hard to argue that 60FPS isn't significantly preferable, so many are claiming the PS4 has the obvious advantage right now.

This week, Square Enix said they'd "consider" Final Fantasy XII HD, but enough fans would have to speak up. So, do you desperately want it? Not that interested? Let us know.

I just find that I'm a much better marksman at 60FPS, and I SUUUUUUUCK.

I'd get 12 HD for the collection, play it once, and then add it to the shelf. I won't cry if it doesn't make it.

I might cry the moment I fire up FFXHD and hear Tidus say "Listen to my story." though :)

If I told you I wanted the XII HD more than X HD would you still give me butterfly kisses?

That was last night and it was A LOT...

I love X, I'd be a fool to want XII over X. I must have put 500+hrs into the game and even the sequel.

We would finally get a good DmC, closer to 4 and three.

60fps definitely would have made that game even better.

The only important aspect of graphics is the framerate. I tried to play Dragons Dogma, and while I'm sure it's solid, the framerate stopped me.

Other than that, how games look now I'm fine with. Resolution isn't a deal breaker at all. I do have an Xbox One and a Ps4, I could care less about resolution.

Give me XII HD please, I'd actually be on board if they made it for ps4. 12 had a lot of great visuals and if you went all out for ps4 it could look amazing.

I suggest you try playing it on the PC using an emulator. XII has amazing graphics that are actually limited due to the PS2 but really shine on the PC. I'd go as far as to suggest they rival anything I've seen so far from the X HD port.

PCSX2

It's only like 15mb and I just use MagicISO to rip my PS2 DVDs (takes about 15minutes) into ISOs. I've ripped them all because it's a great way to back them up in case the hardcopy were to ever get damaged.

Now I just need to get me a playstation-esque PC controller.

I just use a 360 controller. I prefer the dualshock but I don't mind the 360 controller. But ya, I have my PC connected to my TV and it's nice to replay some older games in HD without waiting for them to be ported.

Not sure whether or not I would buy it. I never did like XII all that much. I mean, I did like it, just not enough to buy the same game again just with prettier visuals. I probably would if they release the international zodiac job system though.

and how many just chose that in jest?
and how many of those can actually tell the difference between the 2?
really wish developers would prioritize their time allot better.
hell i remember last year when nvidia announced their new gsync monitors, all of the devs there said they would rather have those than use the extra performance to increase the graphics and believeability of the world.
this industries gone freaking mad!
gsync monitors are such a freaking rip off, i mean asus new ROG monitor, 2560x1440, LCD display, RRP roughly 900 bucks!
my monitor, 2560x1600, extremely expensive far better IPS display, RRP 600 dollars!
so your basically paying 300 bucks more for WORSE picture quality so you can have the silly little useless gsync chip inside.
NO THANKS!
not to mention you can get the dell ultrasharp 4K monitor, TWICE the resolution, and thats a IPS display too, for the same price!
so, ferrari la ferrari for 500K, or 20 year old beetle for 500K.
which should i choose.................

Well my rule of thumb is generally, if you do not have valid and extensive experience in a certain subject, then you should not criticize others who actually do.

60fps makes a significant difference in first person perspective cause the visual movement from that perspective is much more drastic than 3rd person perspective, where the camera angle and movement is much less intense.
But also I'd say that 60fps is more important on PC because the mouse movement is so much "sharper" than the more fluid movement of an analogue stick.

As for the FF remake, I don't know what I am missing and my experience with FF thus far has been so negative that my only option was to vote "hell no".

I don't want Final Fantasy XII HD... I simply didn't enjoy the game for many reasons I have explained before - Mainly the lack of a present story and bare characters. But Final Fantasy XII would look stunning in HD the detail of the environments is so impressive and it would really do the graphics justice.

As for framerate... Why as this become and issue this gen? I never remember having issues with framerate in games prior to this gen - Unless I did something silly like have the Infinite Ammo Bandanna in MGS2 and plant maximum C4's in the area and fire them all rapidly :P But it seems that a lot of games this gen it is an issue, is it the resolution jump I'm asking as I genuinely am clueless on the subject.

Voted "maybe" in the poll. I really enjoyed FF XII, but I started playing it again a year ago and although it was still good, I just didn't get very far into it. I guess I'd rather play some new stuff on the PS3 instead.

More FPS means better gameplay experience for me personally. I bought Dragon's Crown on Psvita because I read that the FPS dropdowns weren't a game breaker, HUGE mistake. You couldn't enjoy te game so I sold it and bought the PS3 version wich runs at 60fps and it was great!!! More fps are better that's one of the reasons I will buy a PS4!

"If enough fans speak up"

Are you serious? Squeenix don't pretend like you care about that. Millions of FFVII fans have been screaming at you for a decade to remake FFVII entirely and you have quite literally ignored them. Hell I would even settle for a HD version atm.
