When Respawn Picked Xbox For Titanfall, It Was A "No-Brainer"
We know Titanfall isn't coming to the PlayStation platform.
Some rumors say "well, not yet" while others say the first game won't come to PS4, but the sequel will. Either way, developer Respawn Entertainment decided to give the nod to the Xbox brand. But why? What's the story behind it?
Well, according to NeoGAF user famousmortimer, the answer is pretty simple:
"Respawn wanted to focus on a single console as they were a small team. In 2011 and 2012 Microsoft was behind the scenes selling their vision for the Xbox One. At the same time Sony was gathering info but not really sharing it. The vast majority of the industry thought that Microsoft was going to dominate this gen… until one year ago, tomorrow.
Respawn picked the XB1 because it seemed like the better choice. MS was pushing it. Sony was mum. The 360 dominated the US and western EU, which is where FPS are king. It was a no-brainer."
Well, that makes perfect sense, doesn't it? Shooters tend to do better on the Xbox platform, the platform does much better in North America than anywhere else, and Americans love their shooters. So, why not bring what could be a big innovation in the genre to the biggest audience? The "biggest audience" would include both the PS4 and Xbox One, of course, but if you're only going to pick one console, well...
