Fez Releases On All PlayStation Platforms Later This Month
Ooh, good news for PlayStation fans!
As revealed over at the PlayStation Blog, the indie smash hit Fez will become available on the PS3, PS4 and Vita on March 25. This particular version was handled by port studio Blit Works (Spelunky), and they did have the help of original developer Polytron.
The PS4 version runs at a super smooth 60 frames per second and 1080p high-definition, while the PS3 version also hits 60 FPS but at 720p HD. As for the Vita, producer Marie-Christine Bourdua said it "runs smoothly at native resolution" but we don't have exact numbers. As she said about the PS4 iteration:
"You wouldn't think that upping the resolution would make a big difference in a game like ours, where the pixels are the size of Gomez's fist, but it really does look even crisper and blockier-- in a good way."
We don't know how much the game will cost on any of the announced platforms, but it currently sells for $9.99 on the Xbox 360 and PC. All PlayStation versions are identical to the current version available for purchase, except for the fact that the Dual Shock 4's light bar assists players with the game's unlockable 3D mode:
"DualShock 4's lightbar has been put to the task of bringing a little bit of Fez's world into your own home, and you may not need to search for that dusty pair of red/cyan glasses to experience a very late-game easter egg."
Okay, so that isn't exactly necessary but it's a nice little touch. Fez is one of those games PlayStation followers wish they had when it originally released but...well, better late than never!
