Is Quantic Dream's PS4 Project Code-Named "Singularity?"
Whatcha workin' on, Dave?
That's what a great many PlayStation fans want to ask of Quantic Dream boss David Cage. We all know the team is cranking away on the hotly anticipated PS3 exclusive, Beyond: Two Souls, but what about a mystery PS4 project...?
As spotted by Superannuation and summarized at Kotaku, it seems the Parisian developer might be hiding something. They registered the domain "singularityps4.com" in November, which matches with previous QD domain registrations; there was "heavyrainps3.com" and "beyondps3.com," so this would imply that a game entitled "Singularity" is in the works at Quantic Dream, and it's slated for Sony's next-generation console.
And of course, this also leads us to believe that Sony will indeed call that machine the PlayStation 4; there has been some question about that, as the code name "Orbis" is all we've had to go on. Lastly, let's not forget that Cage cited Ray Kurzweil's novel, "The Singularity is Near," as a major influence in the creation of that Kara tech demo that blew everyone away. But Activision owns the rights to "Singularity," thanks to the Raven Software-developed game that released back in 2010.
For the record, if you missed Singularity, you might want to try and find it. It's worthwhile. As for that Quantic Dream domain...well, discuss. :)

Ben: The game may not be called _Singularity_. I'm betting that, much like _Beyond: Two Souls_, the "Singularity" part is just the first word in a longer title. Maybe that's obvious, but it lends only more credibility to realising that Kara Tech Demo as a full game. They'd have my money first day for that!

Anyway, you say based on the domain (ps4) that the next playstation will be called playstation 4. As much as I want this, is it possible that the domain could later be changed to go with whatever the next playstation will be called?

About that statement that Kara is not their new game, they could've simply been talking about the fact that the upcoming Beyond not being based on Kara.
I thought from the first moment I saw the Kara demo that it would make an excellent story for a game! In fact I never looked at it as a tech demo, because while the visuals were nice and all, that's not what made me interested in it, but the story & game potential of it!
Make Kara a AAA-PS4 title and I'll be a whole lot more likely to buy one sooner rather than later...
