Is There A Crazy Amount Of Pressure On inFamous: Second Son?
Sure, the PlayStation 4 is doing well. 6 million in less than 4 months is fantastic.
However, there's no denying that many gamers are still disappointed with the available net-gen software. Furthermore, they're annoyed that the titles we do have don't feel very "next-gen-y." Considering all this (and not forgetting that Titanfall releases this month), is it fair to say that inFamous: Second Son is under a lot of pressure to deliver? Or rather, is it Sucker Punch that's under the gun...?
Many are pinning their hopes on the inFamous sequel, believing it will be the first true example of a "next-gen video game." The hype has been building steadily for the past year, and there's no doubt that expectations are absolutely through the roof. However, when you examine the current situation, expectations might be even higher than we initially estimated. Think about it: A PS4 exclusive, widely believed to be freakin' amazing when it hits, and basically going up against an Xbox exclusive that is bound to be massively huge.
With less-than-stellar launch lineups for the two new systems, we're still waiting for the games that make us go, "WOW, now that's next-gen!" For a great many, inFamous: Second Son is supposed to be that game...at this point, I hope it is. If it isn't, the backlash is gonna be pretty significant.
