What's The Most Important Upcoming Title For PlayStation 4?

Yes, some games are definitely more important than others.

When examining the PlayStation 4, which upcoming title do you believe will have the biggest impact on Sony's next-gen systems? Is it one we've already heard about, or is that game yet to be announced?

Might it be the new Uncharted? As the series that was arguably the greatest franchise of the previous generation, one would assume that Uncharted 4 is going to be absolutely gigantic for the PS4. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to hear that many gamers are holding off on purchasing Sony's next-gen console until this game is available. Sony claims development of the game wasn't affected by writer Amy Hennig's departure, but I'm not so sure I believe that. At the very least, you've lost a critical member of the team.

Then again, maybe it's inFamous: Second Son, which is just around the corner. The start of a generation is always critical, especially when the launch lineup didn't exactly blow everyone away. The latest inFamous installment might be the game that pushes the PS4 to even loftier heights early on in this generation. You could also make the argument that Quantic Dream's new project (whatever it is) is going to be massive for the PS4. Heavy Rain was a phenomenon but Beyond: Two Souls didn't quite live up to expectations, so that's up in the air...

Oh, and don't forget Thatgamecompany, although their new project will probably be multiplatform. Still, Journey was so amazing that one can't help but wonder what this talented group has in store for us. What do you think?

I'd say Uncharted4 is the most important. It's Sony's Halo. But for me personally it's The Witcher 3. What a difference a generation makesm; last generation I would have said FFXIII and Versus. Hahahaha...how stupid of me!

It would have been FF13 and Versus, if SE didn't decide they needed to put 13 on the 360.

Well Versus at the time was an exclusive and the fact that the Xbox didn't have blu-ray. Well that and the fact it was an xbox.

I personally don't like calling it Sony's Halo. In terms of hype maybe, but sales, not so much. It's talked about a lot because of great production value and positive feedback from critics and fans, but for it to be a "Halo" it has to have similar console owners to sales ratio. As of now, Halo is much more important to Xbox than Uncharted is to PlayStation.

That said, of the games announced, just because of the sales attach rate and hype, it's Uncharted all the way. I would say GT, but nobody talks about racing games. Games like Order, inFamous, or Quantic Dreams new game can be great, but imo, for it to be most important, means it has to be the most impactful. And for it to be the most impactful, it has to have the best sales attacth rate to the PlayStation console.

Is it though, I have a friend who is not a major gamer, but loves Halo and it is the reason he chose a 360 over a PS3. However, he was not fond of Halo 4 and ever since the new development studio has taken over. I tell him it could be a lot worse and have shown him what happened to Silent Hill when Team Silent were no longer making them, it could have been a lot worse for Halo 4, but he just is not keen on the direction the series is now going.

I don't believe Uncharted has dipped in quality, I think the majority of us prefer Uncharted 2, but Uncharted 3 was in no way a disappointment, it's up to the same level as Uncharted 2 with some fantastic moments. Another PS Exclusive I think has dropped in quality is Resistance, I loved the first game, the second was really good, but the third... I just could not stand it at all. The level design was uninspiring, the complete transformation of the leader character was difficult to follow - He was nothing like how he appeared in R2 (& of course I don't mean Hale...) The story plain and boring and the Chimera lacked variety... For me it really brought the series down from a Triple A franchise.

I'm going to say Uncharted, God of War, Final Fantasy XV, and Kingdom Hearts 3. There's a small chance this may just be my wishlist though....

Legend of Dragoon remake/sequel/prequel anyone?

As much as i love the uncharted series, And i do lets just make that clear! I never saw it as the greatest series of last gen and never really understood all the hype but thats just me, But it was a great series and can't wait to play more. As for the question at hand its uncharted 4 that most people are waiting for, I will be buying the ps4 for mgsv gz and phantom pain.

Clearly if you "love" the game you can understand the hype.

I'm a self proclaimed biggest Uncharted fan out there and of all my years of gaming I've never experienced anything quite like the Uncharted series. What it did for me as a gamer and obviously the majority of the industry is amazing.

I think they ought to change the saying to the SECOND time's the charm! ;)

Oh Uncharted is undeniably one of the biggest new IP's of the PS3 gen. 3 amazing titles that consistently pushed the benchmark in what the console can perform. When 'Uncharted: Drakes Fortune' was launched for the PS3 back in 2007 that was the real beginning of the PS3.

If we're talking about Developing companies that strengthen the console with their exclusivity, I don't think anything comes close to Naughty Dog.

I definitely think Uncharted 4 is way up their long term. In the short term though infamous, and Drive Club are very important in the short term. Luckily PS4 owners got KZ Shadowfall but it can only hold you over so long. Now it's getting to the point though where the PS4 needs a big game soon.

I'm still playing the games I got for the PS4 but the PS4 needs a heavy hitter. That's what I'm talking about. Something that can keep the attention on that console.

undoubtedly though Uncharted is by far Sony's most important game, which instantly makes it the most important PS4 game.

I will be shocked if it's even close to the perfection found in ICO and SOTC. Hell, at this point I'd be shocked if it's even released.

Uncharted 4 is probably the single biggest one coming but there are others. Second Son and The Order will help and if the PS4 gets better versions of multi-plats than the Xbone...

honestly I wish it was Infamous or uncharted, even a new FF that was really FF, but my best guess for biggest thing to move some ps4's is that it will either be Cod or the next GTA.

That may sound odd, but with the trend that is already happening with ps4 outselling xbone and that most games have been better (regardless of how much) on the ps4. I can see gamers choosing to buy a ps4 to play them instead of an xbone and both games sell a lot of copies.

A ps4 cod or GTA bundle could sell like magic happy candy.

Gran Turismo 7 for next year. A lot of people are itching for GT7 and frustrated about GT6 being a PS3 game. Rumors are also floating that GT7p may be inevitable if Sony wants GT to make a debut this year.

I don't know about hype, but GT has always had the best sales ratio of game and consoles owned, so it should always be in the discussion for sales impact. GT5 sold 11 million since late 2010 so GT7 should have some impact on the PS4.

Speaking of DriveClub, if it does become successful, it can be HUGE for Sony. It looks impressive, and most of it being free for PS Plus, it may not only attract PS4 buyers, but also new PS Plus members. Driving games may not attract headlines, but it can attract casuals, because it's a genre that everyone just seem to have in their collection.

second sons not enough of a leap to be it, it does not look that crazy to make your jaw drop, nor does it offer anything new to justify its ps4 release.
exactly why people are so disappointed with next gen systems so far were still yet to see something that makes us say yes now this is what we waited SEVEN long freaking 7 years for!
so it will probably be either the order or uncharted, obviously whichever releases first.
i have my serious doubts the order will release this year though, and NDs never said uncharted would be out this year either, so what else is there?
SSMs games not suppose to be announced for another year or so let alone released, and thats if its not their new IP which was canned with the recent layoffs.
it wont be sony japan either they just released rain, knack, we wont be seeing another game from them in a while.
im hoping it will be sony london studio there apparently working on a big revival of a old franchise, and theres been rumors that $onys reviving a old canceled project.
well london studio were working on the getaway 3, a old famous playstation franchise, and a game which was apparently almost finished when they pulled the plug.
maybe $ony has FINALLY woken up and realized keeping such a amazing talented studio such as them on crappy kids games is like hiring ferrari to create freaking leggo toys!
one can only dream, though just imagine how awesome a ps4 the getaway could be!!!!!!!!!!
or it could be syphon filter, but i doubt it rumors have been going around for years now that sony bends working on a new IP, not a well established one.
but reboots being the rave these days anythings possible!

Honestly, I think it will be a combination of a handful high-profile multiplat titles that will prove to be most important for the system, once it becomes widespread news that they all run best on the PS4. The marketing and buzz surrounding those titles amongst non-Playstation fans just can't be beaten.

For me personally my absolute deadline for getting me a PS4 will be this autumn when the new Dragon Age is here. That is a day one purchase, it can not wait. And it shall be played on my big livingroom screen.

This is precisely what I need convincing on... while it will have Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Final Fantasy XV, so will the Xbox. So with my two major franchise multi-platform I am looking at other exclusives to win me over and while there are some decent games like Infamous, TitanFall, none of them cater to my interest. Looking at my PS3 collection (Which I have vastly decreased recently due to baggage titles) here are the exclusives I have:
Uncharted 1-3
The Last Of Us
Ni No Kuni
Heavy Rain & Beyond: Two Souls
Resistance 1-3

Beyond the HD Collections, all my other PS3 games are multi-platform. Which is a huge contrast to my PS1 & PS2 collection which I wont go into mention as most of the titles are exclusive. It just shows how the industry has took a dramatic turn this gen and with all these third party games going multi-platform it actually damages the Playstations reputation, as games fans define as Playstation titles (Like Metal Gear or Tekken) are now open on Xbox, decreasing the Playstations value and importance as a whole.

Looking at the PS4 line up, there is nothing in the slightest I see that really puts itself over the Xbox. The Order 1886 could be an interesting title but it is still early days. But then after March the releases of 2014 plummet into nothing... I'll be busy with Final Fantasy X HD myself so I won't mind but, it's gotten to the point where I am not even considering the PS4 as an option. I'll be interested to hear of what the community here is interested in as I just see nothing.

Right now i don't think there is one in the immediate future because Sony can't get the consoles into stores. With the demand far outweighing the supply all the PS4s will get snapped up anyway so judging this question becomes difficult. Infamous: SS would be my answer but with that coming out in a few weeks the hardware shortage will still be a factor. I'll go with Destiny (bringing Bungie to the Sony audience) and Uncharted hoping that by then the PS4 will be widely available.

Tho for me, it's Drive Club actually.

In the spirit of thinking "outside the box" it's possible Destiny will be a bigger PS4 seller than any of the exclusives. shooters sells systems. look at the PS3 and 360. and Destiny is going to be so incredibly popular and look so much more amazing on the PS4's better system, that I think a lot of people will buy the PS4 just to play the game on the system that performs worlds above the competition.

I think that when you see the New Batman game trailer it gives me hope for what the Next Gen really has in store. So that being said, Naughty Dog is the best game developer today in my opinion so Uncharted will give me an idea of what the PS4 is truly capable of.
