Rumored Mirror's Edge 2 Details: An Epic Experience Awaits?

Rumored details are just that: Rumors. So, read with interest, but also with a discerning eye for BS.

It seems a horde of new Mirror's Edge 2 information has arrived on the Internet; specifically, at NeoGAF admin's EvilChildren website, where he claims to have seen "video content of the in-development game."

Click the link to check out the full list, but here are some of the more intriguing highlights:

-- The game is being targeted for a 2016 release across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Mac.

-- The E3 2013 teaser was “entirely real-time and generally unscripted,” including combat. The in-development build matches up graphically and mechanically.

-- The game is a total reboot of the series. The core goal is to create a “living, breathing city” in a open world for players to explore.

-- The open world environment includes a “persistent, ‘always online’ component,” where the open world is considered a “multiplayer ‘playground’” where other players can seamlessly drop-in or out and freely choose their level of interaction with other players in the game world. Journey‘s online feature was given as an example.

-- Faith will not have a gun.

-- Feedback from the first game’s combat system has helped shaped the second’s, which has seen heavy revision. There is no more gun-play or one-button combat, but a “deeper system that emphasizes speed and fluidity.” Environment interaction is a key feature to combat, with Faith being able to push, punch, and kick enemies out of the way, and over ledges, tables, and railings.

-- Mirror’s Edge 2 is being considered a racing game at heart, as the team is focused on creating a game all about parkour, speed, fluidity, and mastery of the environment. The combat changes are being made to seamlessly integrate encounters and the combat system into the feeling of speed and mastering parkour.

If I hear/read the phrase "living, breathing city" one more time I'm gonna spit.

I'm sure there's a game somewhere where a city is on a living creature. I wanted to say Tales of Legendia, but that's a ship...

<<<The game is a total reboot of the series>>>

Huh?
#1. Since when is one game a whole series?
#2. A one game reboot?

That one sentence of his there, made absolutely no sense to me.

"Faith will not have a gun" - so THERE, all you who said it'd turn into an open world shooter.

I think this has a *huge* potential. It's how Mirrors Edge should have been from the start, if you ask me.

But she had a gun last time.

No World she didn't. She could disarm someone and take their gun but once it was out of ammo it was done it was discarded. She never started out with a gun, that game was all about the free-running.

And I'm quite happy with the suggested upgrades though just having another ME is getting me excited enough. A Mirrors Edge sequel has always been my most anticipated game, can't wait for this to come out.

Not much to read from here other that it doesn't include any guns. It looks like the open world will be just like any other EA open world games like Need For Speed or Burnout where people can seamless interact online from offline.

I would like to see how it turns out though.

The first game was one of the best of last gen. This game will be awesome, too.

Well, that certainly seems promising. I mean, the original was promising too, but I was let down by it.

No need to buy a PS4 'til 2016, then. Gives me time to work on my PS3 backlog, and further master Mirror's Edge. The no-guns sentiment is exactly what I was hoping for. Do it right, DICE! Keep up the good work!

so i gotta wait basically TWO more years for this!?
and how the &^%$ am i going to do that!?
:(
god, so does that mean star wars battlefront is even further away?
shudder.

just one request with this.
no more locking me in the basement, and forcing me to run past 500 police and security officers, all of them shooting at me.
god that game had some stupid INFURIATING levels!
common sense dictates if a guy has a gun pointed at you, you DO NOT run towards him!

That's why you've got to replay it from different angles! Again and again, and again and again and again!

Once through isn't even a shadow of the true Mirror's Edge experience!!

and if you redo it enough times, it will eventually become fun, right?
hell no!
another one of those things that just takes you out of the experience and feels like one of those silly gamey conveniences.
like what cliffy was saying with gears 3 they really tried to hide the cover much better so you dont walk into a room and can predict where the battles are, due to conveniently placed cover.

Ah another great game with lot of potential is most likely going to ruined. They are not building on the original, just marketing to cater to the whiners who hate the style of the game. I am sure they are trying to copy the GTA series format. One is enough. Do not need copycats. Be original like the Mirrors Edge was.

Well at least I have the original one and its still fun to jump in to an play.

Keep playing and peace to the haters of ME (original).
