PS4 Version Of The Show Won't Step To The Plate Until May
We usually get a new MLB game in the first week of March, which is just in time for spring training.
Unfortunately, baseball fans won't have this year's entry until well after the first pitch of the regular season crosses home plate. Sony has announced that the PlayStation 4 version of MLB 14: The Show won't arrive until May 6. The PS3 and Vita iterations will land earlier, though, on April 1.
The PS4 version will undoubtedly be the definitive version, so you might want to hold out for that one. It'll boast beautiful 1080p visuals, 60 silky smooth frames per second, over 1,000 different crowd models, and every stadium sports over 1 million polygons. How's that for detail? As for new features, here are a few of the most important:
-- Quick Counts mode created to get you through a full nine innings in 30 minutes.
-- A year-to-year saves system that will allow you to carry over your saves to next year's game.
-- Cross-platform saves across PS3, PS4, and PS Vita.
-- Community Challenges including moments from history and the present alike.
-- Universal Profile system that tracks player tendencies.
-- Online Franchise mode that features multi-season play.
And before you ask, yes, the game will utilize microtransactions. But Sony says they're adopting a "simplified" strategy...whatever that means.
