Go Behind The Scenes With The Gorgeous Child Of Light

Child of Light is the ultimate charming experience for veteran role-playing fanatics.

Scheduled to launch on April 30 as a digital title for the PS4, Xbox One, PS3, 360, Wii U (Nintendo eShop) and PC (Steam), Ubisoft Montreal's brainchild will retail for only $14.99 and deliver an unparalleled experience.

We say "unparalleled" because we really don't have anything like it these days. It's an homage to the days long past, when turn-based mechanics ruled the RPG world. The developers use the powerful UbiArt Framework engine, so "programmers and artist can bring their art to life by allowing original concept art to be inserted unedited into the game world." The game has been described as an "interactive painting," which makes it all the more intriguing.

So, want to see how it was made? Check out Part 1 of a new behind-the-scenes series.

Everytime you make a comment I agree with and I find myself about to consider you a sane person I'm reminded of comments like this one. Do you have a drinking problem? This game looks amazing.

It's not an old fashioned RPG, it's a new game with classic turn-based mechanics.

Dummy.

I have to admit, I don't see why people keep calling this an RPG, whenever I hear that it does irk me a little. To me it looks like a side-scroller. But the game presents the dialogue in a visual novel style, which is one of the first hurdles in an RPG for me.

People call it an RPG because battles have a turn based mechanic. It looks like a jrpg/side scrolling platformer mix.

Very interesting!

I'm starting to really want to play this game and not just because it's turned based.
