EA Secures Rights To Titanfall Sequel

Will Titanfall or the sequel (or both) eventually come to PlayStation and/or Nintendo platforms?

That's getting more likely with every passing day. According to what a "reputable source" told GameSpot, Electronic Arts has secured the rights to a sequel.

Apparently, the option to land Titanfall 2 was based on the performance of the original title and clearly, the recently released game is doing quite well. We don't have exact sales just yet but chances are, they're impressive. EA won't officially claim the IP just yet but I'm sure we'll hear more about this in the near future. For the record, Titanfall is only available on Xbox and PC platforms, but EA CFO Blake Jorgensen was previously quoted as saying that any sequels could indeed come to other systems.

It really is inevitable. EA simply doesn't do exclusivity and by the time a sequel is ready to go, the userbase of the PlayStation 4 will be too high to ignore.

Meh, doesn't change my use of the product. Well actually it does since I try not to support EA thanks to Origin. By far the worst gaming service I've ever had the misfortune of experiencing.

Why would they have to secure rights to their own franchise?

A separate developer created the first game, EA only published it. The developers could've picked a different publisher for the next game if they wished, now EA doesn't have to worry about that.

gotcha, I thought they funded the entire operation, built Respawn as an EA subsidiary.

Uhm, congrats, I guess. Good news for those PS4 owners (potential owners) who are interested in the game. Must be a little disconcerting for those who bought the first game to know that a second is already in the works considering it came out a week ago... Bit of distance, guys.

This. The game just came out and they are already mentioning a sequel. Yup, definitely EA written all over it.

Not interested. Unless they give us the 1st game prior to the release of TitanFall 2. I don't want another Mass Effect 1 scenario. I only recently got to play the Mass Effect Trilogy due to the ridiculous delay of the first game on PS3. I know its a rights issue, but if your not willing to release the first game of the series on my console, I am not willing to give it my time.

Titanfall is a multiplayer game - that's different. They are not connected by a story.

I'm aware, it is a matter of principle more than anything...

If I can't have the first I don't want the second. Plus I didn't care for their previous work.

Polygon reported yesterday that Titanfall 2 will certainly NOT be exclusive to MS platforms. I mean obviously, like EA would take the best chance they ever had to compete with Call of Duty and keep it limited to XBox and PC, but it's all but confirmed with this news. Pretty cool! Looking forward to some sweet big robot multiplayer in 2016 :)

Oh great, garbage coming to playstation 4. Don't need or want the trash being recycled to the playstation user base just so EA CEO's can get 20 million dollar bonus checks.

Need to throw them all into Majula and watch them run around like headless chickens.
