Watch Dogs Devs: PS4's Power Gave Us "A Chance To Dream"

New, more powerful hardware gives developers everywhere a chance to expand their horizons (literally and figuratively).

Watch Dogs animation director Colin Graham praised Sony's PlayStation 4 for offering a fantastic memory budget, which ultimately gave the development team a "chance to dream." That's what he said during a recent interview over at the PlayStation Blog:

"PS4 has really given us the platform to build a new type of game. It gave us a chance to dream. From an animation point of view, we're always running out of memory, especially when you start developing towards the end of a console generation, so PS4 allowed things like reduced animation compression and more variety in civilians."

Graham added that it's "a bit like working with an unlimited budget" because they never can fill the memory budget of the system. "It's a really nice piece of hardware," he concluded. Lead gameplay designer Danny Belanger also had some kind words for Sony's new game machine, saying the extra power "brings us a step forward."

After being delayed, the long-anticipated Watch Dogs is due out on May 27 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. If you opt to purchase either the PS3 or PS4 version, you'll grab some exclusive content!

I posted in that other news about exclusive content, but probably people thought I was trolling. So, here I am posting with a source:

These are just timed exclusives for PS3/PS4, and will come on PC too. In fact, the digital pre-order of Watchdogs Digital Deluxe Edition has these additional missions listed since much earlier than that trailer released recently.

So what? These days, just about everything is a "timed" exclusive.

I've never purchased a system based on what exclusive content is available for a given game for this very reason.

All I want to know about Watch Dogs is whether the rumours of a visual downgrade on consoles are true. If they are then I may be asking to borrow my brothers shiny new gaming PC for this one.

Ubisoft has said that there is no graphical downgrade, but if you compare footage from E3 and compare it to footage that's been revealed since then, you will notice that it doesn't look anywhere as impressive as the PC footage that was initially shown at E3.

and that is the exact problem with next gen titles, we still havent seen anything next gen about them!
and judging by the sever downgrade watch dogs has seen from its reveal, to now, this wont be it either!

It's still something a high-end PC from a few years ago could run but by console standards I still find BF4 to be damn impressive and is closest to "next-gen" so far. I hope The Witcher 3 and The Division can push things even further..

easily run, but thats not the point.
next gen systems are suppose to offer up something we simply could not experience on last gen systems.
and im yet to see a single game that demonstrates that.
people have been begging for next gen systems for years, not because there not happy with how games look, but because their sick of playing yesterdays shooter over and over and over and over and over and over and over again!
