Rumor: The Last Of Us Coming To PS4

It's not the first time we've heard this rumor.

Even though the source is technically a Sony representative (PlayStation Turkey VP Sercan Sulun, speaking to Turkish CNN website Multiplayer), we're still calling it a rumor. Sony hasn't officially confirmed this with a press release and as usual, translations can be iffy.

This particular translation was first spotted on NeoGAF: Evidently, The Last Of Us will launch on the PlayStation 4 as both a physical and digital release:

"Sequel is not coming right now as far as I know, but I can say that [the] first game will be released this summer for PS4 as a physical and digital copy with enhanced graphics," in response to a question about a potential The Last of Us sequel."

The other rumor is that TLoU will be a PlayStation Now title, meaning gamers can also rent the award-winning adventure from Naughty Dog. Bear in mind that Sony executives have been wrong before, and translations are often wonky as well. It's hardly a foregone conclusion that this game is coming to the PS4 but if it does, will you be psyched...?

Nooooo. It's time to move on now, this cross gen period is already going to be too long.

Though it makes total business sense so I guess...whatever

Honestly instead of working on new games and such they decide to start with this whole "remastering" crap already

If they were gunna do this nonsense they should've just put backwards compatibility on the ps4

It's for guys who haven't played it yet, which I'm guessing consists mostly of xbox guys who switched over to PS4. I suppose they could get me to buy and play it again if they revamp the graphics but honestly, it looked, sounded and played so well on PS3 not sure it needs an upgrade at all.

I definitely agree.

TLoU was my favorite game of last gen, but that's where it will live - as my favorite game on the PS3, no need to buy it for the PS4.

Make a new game for the PS4.

Not trying to be contrarian, but I like to re-play classics, and TLoU is right up there. I'd be very happy re-playing TLoU on PS4. I hope that they out-source it to another dev (Bluepoint are good at this kind of thing, as are a few others) so that Naughty Dog is able to come up with something new, but in principle TLoU on PS4 is a good thing.

Agreed.

I would MUCH rather Sony works on new games, then revamping old ones.

Leave that to other companies like Squeenix. They do a good job of that.

makes sense to me since it seems so many people got the PS4 after owning the Xbox so im sure more than a few people have missed out on TLoU

Awesome, what a great idea. Remember, you are not forced to buy this. As long as it doesn't interfere with current PS4 projects I am fine. Maybe it's a Gearbox passing off Borderlands 2 to an outside dev scenario.

All DLC and Left Behind and DE for $60 sounds fine to me. Tomb Raider DE turned out great on the PS4. TRDE is $30 on PSN right now, so tempted!

This is for the true fans and millions of X360 crowd that made the jump over to the PS4 this new gen. Seeing TLOU, TRDE and ME do well hopefully we will see other treasured franchises make the PS4 jump.

Since I haven't played it yet this is nice for me. I can wait until I pick up a ps4 and then play the best version of it.

So maybe I'll get to play this game after all then. Although I am much, much more eager to get GTA5 over to a current platform.

I'm starting to doubt it'll happen, but maybe along with PC?

I somehow imagine I've read somewhere that there were talk about GTA5 coming to PS4/Xbone/PC this summer? But it's been awfully quiet since.
Well... It *has* to happen, someday. That's for damn sure.

But more than GTA5 I am dying to get the next Dragon Age. I really hunger for a good old BioWare style story now.

The next Dragon Age looks more and more incredible every time I see previews. I'm all-in on that game.

holy crap beam ya still haven't played either?
I got bored of gta5 alot quicker than i thought i would!
Its still almost impossible to put the controller down if i lash on TLOU though, just like uncharted.
GTA5 needs more cops on foot patrol + cop bikes.

Carlos,
I've never been a fan of extremely linear/restricted games. It's just a personal preference issue.

GTA45 on the other hand, well that is simply a case of not being available on a platform I want to play it on. I was so tired of the PS3 already in 2012, so I simply lost all interest in games for it. I moved my ps3 and all the games to our cabin about a year ago.

You know... if I was the government in a GTA game, I'd be putting all my resources into hunting down and killing all you players.

Yeah I would rather see a TLoU2 on the PS4. If I had know this was going to happen (not that we do now) I would have held off on the PS3 version. A polished version of the best of what the PS3 had to offer would pretty much be full next gen. I'm still contemplating the Left Behind DLC. I really want it, but it's PS4 and Vita time. Even my PC feels off right now.

Totally understand why they would do this, but unless it comes out pretty soon it will have been a waste of time. I mean, it is a great game, but surely fewer people will be interested in buying it as the slew of new-gen games ramps up. Goof for those people migrating to PS4 from the XBO having missed it the first time around, though.

If I already owned this for the PS3 then this wouldn't matter to me, but where it is still on my list of games I haven't had time to pick up yet, not too mention my backlog of games I still have to finish on the PS3, I may wait until I can find a PS4 to buy before I get TLOU.

Yay, I've already started a backlog of games for a system I don't even own yet...FML...

Buying it again and I don't care, take my money. The opportunity for this game to be played again in 1080p with a silky smooth 60FPS would be most welcome. This game deserves the treatment.

I couldn't be more excited about this if it's true. I'm attacking some of my PS3 backlog and I JUST started playing this three days ago, so I think I'll stop and just hold off a little longer for the PS4 version.

whats the point?
the gameplay of TLoU, as usual for ND, was pretty lackluster it was all about the story and experience.
most have already gone through that, most have already gone through the highs and lows, they know the story, they know the twists, so whats the point?
no thanks id much rather see ND work on another new IP, lets see how far out of their comfort zone we can get them!
it was a nice change of pace to see them do something allot more down to earth, and a much darker contrast.
im really interested to see how deep down the rabbit hole they can go.

Already have it on PS3. Why buy it again just for better graphics?
