Metro Redux Is Real, More Info At E3

Ooh...can't wait for this!

Following some rumors concerning a next-gen iteration of the acclaimed Metro franchise, developer 4A Games decided to spill the beans on the game's website.

As you can see, it's a message confirming the existence of Metro Redux, the team's first next-generation project. What is it, exactly? Well, they're not going into detail just yet, but we can expect to hear more at E3 in a few months. Here's a snippet from the post:

"Metro Redux. You may have heard of it... even though you probably shouldn't have! We could issue a 'We do not comment on rumour and speculation' statement and pretend this never happened. They're pretty boring to read. They're also pretty boring to write.

So we're going to comment on rumour and speculation instead.

Is Metro Redux real? Yes. We never made any secret of 4A's desire to bring Metro to the latest generation of console hardware. But what you saw leaked was taken from an old, internal planning presentation, containing some nuggets of truth but a lot of hypothetical ideas and place holder material."

The cool part is that they say the "reality is a lot more exciting than the outdated material that got leaked." This will be one of the more anticipated titles at E3, I can almost guarantee it. Last year's Metro: Last Light was pretty damn great, and it remains one of the most under-appreciated titles of the generation. Not underrated, mind you, under-appreciated, which means we think it should've sold more.

I heard a rumor that Metro 2033 and Last Light were being brought to PS4 and XB1. Is Redux a new sequel?

Hope it's a sequel. I do remember someone talking about making it more "accessible" in the future though. If that happens count me out.

Yes. The last thing a struggling franchise needs is to appeal to a wider audience.

see big moron suits, now THIS is how you do damage control!
dont treat your fans like f*cking morons, at least have the respect for them and their intelligence instead of slapping them in the face and expecting them to believe your tripe.
funny how the indies are showing the real world how its done these days!

that said though, redux is apparently just a port of metro 2033 and last light onto next gen systems.
le sigh.
seriously, WTF would you waste the talent and time of such a amazing studio!?
and such a small studio as well its not like they disbanded a few folks to do this while the main guys work on the next big thing.
for f*cks sake, im REALLY starting to get sick of this industries sudden obsession of taking last years blockbuster flop and trying to suck more cash out of it!
ok it did not sell as well as you had hoped, suck it up, but more importantly try to understand why and try to not make those mistakes again!
punishing the developers, and your fans, by forcing the same tired old thing down their throats is NOT going to help you win more fans!

It's a disappointment if this is just a merge of the first two games, but if there is one developer in this world who I think deserve to get a little extra out of their project, it's these guys.

derves yea its a shame there titles never really have had the success that deserves!
but its still wasting resources and time that should be used on actually creating a sequel or even better a new IP.

It's not a waste if they make good money on it. Plus, it's safe to assume they are well into planning the next sequel anyway. It'll only be a bit later in the pipeline.

Also, there's a *lot* of people out there who have yet to experience these games. It's not like it's a franchise that's been played to death by most already. So I actually want to defend them for doing this. *IF* it is true what you say, that this is just a merge of the two first Metro games.

If this is port to the PS4 and XBO, 4A just got themselves a customer in me. Was never interested in Last Light because I could never play 2033. Bundle them, and I'm in.

Never played Metro 2033 or Last Light so this is huge for me. These games I hear can look really gorgeous and with the power of the PS4 this should look wonderful. I don't think they are a big dev so it looks like they are trying to make back some money because Last Light didn't sell well. Good for them, as we need them to stick around for Metro 3. Unfortunately this Redux comes at the expense of Metro 3 coming out sooner. Oh well, this is just the way it is some times and no need to cry about it. I will buy this Redux Edition and support them finally.
