UFC Goes Next-Gen On June 17, Bruce Lee Joins The Fray?

Updated: Yep, Bruce Lee is confirmed. Intro trailer below.

Original Story:

It's not official but it's 99% likely.

According to a poster spotted by a NeoGAF forumite, a next-gen UFC installment will be ready to roll on June 17.

If the poster's information is accurate, those who pre-order the hard-hitting fighter will land the legendary Bruce Lee as a bonus. EA has been teasing a "mystery fighter" for a while, and Lee appears to be the perfect fit. You may notice at the game's official website that the mystery character is wearing yellow shorts with a black strip. Lee fanatics know those are the same colors as the master's iconic tracksuit from his last movie, "Game of Death."

As for the game, it appears to be headed to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The head shape looks similar to Bruce Lees mushroom cut type hair style.

That would be really cool to have him in here. Most people fantasize how he would fare in the UFC today so this might be the closest thing we get :P

Well Bruce Lee has often been called the father of MMA. I just hope the devs will get the body language right.

I think Bruce Lee would hate to be called the father of MMA. Personally I'm thinking this is just going to be a rubbish cash cow for the game.

I agree. Any books you read he was all about training for real combat. IE hair pulling, eye gouging etc. So I don't know if he would like the MMA if he watched it now.

As a martial artist for over 20 years I think the MMA is an interesting sport but a lot of things bug me about it. I also don't think most of the top MMA fighters would do well in a real fight against a traditional martial artist, I'm not talking about the kids who get black belts in TKD when they are 12. I mean the ones who lived and breathed it since they were 4 and 5 and respect their art and do all the bone conditioning, kata etc.

There was an example actually of an MMA fighter getting his arse kicked by a punch of goons at a gas station because he was mouthy. Mind you it wasn't a fair fight but street fights hardly are. But watching him treat it like he was in a ring was interesting to say the least. I know not all MMA fighters are like this some of them have a legit street fighting back ground but still a lot are.

Anyway rant over :P

It will sell. UFC is huge and so is their brand image. With EA behind it, I can guarantee it will sell.
