Naughty Dog Isn't Pulling Any Punches With TLoU: Remastered
Yes, The Last Of Us is coming to the PlayStation 4, and developer Naughty Dog has promised some seriously stunning technicals.
Studio co-president Evan Wells told PlayStation Access that the game's visual fidelity "has been turned up to eleven." They've got 1080p but beyond that, they're "pushing draw distances further and creating higher resolution character models."
Better lighting, better shadows, and the team is still aiming for that lofty 60 frames per second plateau. Interestingly, Wells confirmed that Naughty Dog started work on the Remastered edition for PS4 almost immediately after the PS3 version shipped:
"We had a lot of people on the forums saying 'can I play this on PlayStation 4?' We've been actually anticipating that, and started working on it pretty much as soon as we finished the PlayStation 3 [version]. We weren't sure whether it was going to go anywhere, but when we saw the fans clamoring for it we doubled-down, and put more effort behind it."
This great package will also feature all previously released downloadable content, commentary by director Neil Druckmann and voice actors Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson, and other goodies. Don't forget that Naughty Dog has at least two internal design teams; one is working on Remastered while the other is cranking away on that new Uncharted title for PS4. Wells did add that the "lion's share" of ND employees are indeed working on the latter project.
Okay, but the big question: Is it worth $60?
