Capcom's New R&D Buildings Will Add Speed And Efficiency

The old adage: You have to spend money to make money.

Let's just hope things work out for Capcom. The publisher has announced that it has begun construction of two new Research & Development buildings. They'll be erected near the company's Osaka headquarters, and Capcom will invest a total of $80 million to make it happen.

They say this is in response to the release of the next-gen consoles, and they want to make sure they don't miss the digital train, so-to-speak:

"The appearance of next-generation consoles with a variety of network functions has shifted the focus of sales from conventional package software to digitally distributed content. The profit structure and business model are changing at an increasing speed as a result. Furthermore, the popularity of social games due to the widespread use of smartphones is enabling games to reach more user segments and enlarging the entire game market."

Capcom's growth strategy involves "operating with speed and flexibility" and ultimately, these two new buildings will make game development "more efficient." The structures will also boast a motion capture room, a sound effects studio, and "multi-purpose spaces" that can accommodate over 100 people. One building will be 8 floors; the other will be twice that height.

Well, Capcom definitely needs to get off on the right foot this generation, wouldn't you say?

Now the question is: How long will this take? Are they going to feed us more street fighters with extra characters that look like old characters with some different moves? Or perhaps more Resident Evil games that feel like an action game trying to be a horror and survival game at the same time?

Perhaps this will help them out, I just hope that they get their stuff together because it's not looking good for Capcom.

January 2015 first building will be setup.
February 2016 the second building will be setup.
By Next Year you'll same another AAA Exclusive after Deep Down.
So New AAA Exclusive next year from Capcom,Konami
,Square and Sony Japan and many other studios..Does that answer your question?

Yes, thank you very much. Not that I'm anxiously awaiting anything Capcom & Square Enix are working on, but I'll include some delays in there as well.

Well speed and efficiency are nice but how about adding new buildings for better games. Where's my proper Breath of Fire, capcom?

Probably mostly two centers where they figure out how to better separate people from their money than they did even in the last generation.

I'd be interested to find out if Devil May Cry is still in play anywhere in that company.

Digitally distributed content. Smartphones. Deep Down... I don't like where this is headed. I get the niggling feeling that DmC was the last Capcom game that I'm going to be invested in. And that makes me a little bit sad.

Just give me an Onimusha hd remake with revamped graphics RE1 style, or hurry up with Deep Down.

Screw the hipsters and their crappy cellphone games.
