PSXE Poll Update: PlayStation Fans Are Confident PS4 Will Rock
Yes, we are a PlayStation-oriented website so perhaps the uninitiated believe the poll results are nothing too shocking.
But those who have been around here a while are well aware of the kind of gamer that frequents the PSXE community: If they think Sony is messing up, if they have doubts concerning a Sony product, they're gonna speak up. And that's why we love it 'round here. ;)
Therefore, the fact that the majority of readers believe they'll be "ecstatic" when Sony unveils the PS4 is significant. It shows that people do have faith in the product that Sony will almost inevitably announce in less than two weeks. Despite some unsettling rumors that hint at less-than-impressive specs and a more casual appeal, most seem to embrace a simple yet logical philosophy- PlayStation has delivered for them many times over in the past 17+ years, so why stop believing in the platform now?
This week, we're wondering what you think of the PlayStation Vita; i.e., its current status. Recently, Sony was forced to slash their fiscal sales expectations for the new portable by a whopping 3 million units, and the release schedule looks pretty bare right now. Do you see a resurgence? Or is your prediction more dire...?

I'd have to back that it's a price thing - price really hurt the 3DS, and I suspect it's not doing the Vita any favours. My guess is that it'll muddle along until a price cut, which if Sony is clever they'll tie to a quality game release or two, and then pick up steam after that.

but many many reasons making me believe they wont.
1 this is the first home console developed without father ken.
the ONLY reason why playstation even exists is because of him!
$ony execs canceled the playstation when the deal with ninty went belly up, but he went against their orders and continued working on it and thanks to father ken it was a resounding success.
father ken was a engineer and because of that, he had a obsessive passion for technology.
and because of that he always made sure something with the PS badge was a technological marvel.
ps4 will be the first home console not designed by the creator of the family.
one reason why im VERY worried!
2 the vita was the first playstation device that was not designed under father ken.
and how did that turn out?
certainly NOT the technological marvel you would expect to find under the PS badge!
3 $ony have been bleeding money left right and center ever since the ps3 released.
just last week there stock took another plummet and the largest the company has seen in 4 freaking years!
so they dont exactly have the cash to go out and make the best system out there.
4 and that brings me onto the last problem.
even IF $ony could afford to make the typical device, it would cost so much they would have to charge a pretty penny, and most people ATM cant afford that.
especially with so much competition with both the mobile market and others.
oh, not to mention all the rumors, developers, and even $ony themselves saying the ps4 will be more about social features than raw power.
thats 5 things saying it wont be the console it should be, thats 5 things pointing it to being a playstationu!
if that aint enough to get you worried you need your head looking at!
as for the vita weve been over that more than enough times!
its finished.
not only because the lack of games, not only because of the price, but also because of the lack of features and really annoying restrictions.
when you buy a device in 2009 that has x features, than buy another device in 2013 that does not have those features you know your in trouble!
the vita just feels so outdated, both from a hardware standpoint and also from a OS and features standpoint.
the lack of games and high price are such a easy fix and will be fixed, and wont take long!
OS, though, is a other kettle of fish.......

In regards to the new vote I believe many will vote how they *want* things to be rather than how the are. I mean, how else can you possibly vote for "It's fine, there's nothing wrong with it" at current state.

I have a Vita, and I am very happy with it. It has plenty of games for me, but that might not be the case for someone that likes other genre, or someone that uses a portable gaming device more than I do.
The lack of games however does not alter the simple fact that Vita is a wonderful piece of PlayStation hardware that "father Ken" (as the anonymous cowherd put it) would have been proud of. Incidentally, I believe that Kutaragi may still retain a senior technical advisor position with Sony. He's no longer honorary chair, but may still have a hand in some of the Playstation technology being developed - though I'd bet that this is more of a honorary role also.

I haven't been able to find anyone who's actually received this special 'invitation' to participate in this promo.

I am very happy with my Vita as well. It is an awesome device. Any features it may "LACK" can always be implemented. What more should the Vita do? I think SONY will reintroduce the Vita as a companion to the PS4. What the PSP should have
@Temjin001, I got that email... Are you interested in buying a VITA? I can be your referrer. Lol..

The PS4... I am NOT worried. "Social Features" does not mean that Sony is skimping on hardware. They may want to focus on social because it is the "TREND" nowadays but I see no reason why we cannot have both. As long as PlayStation continues its Legacy of the best games available then they can add as many social features as they want. For those that Don't want them, Don't use them.
I believe it is the goal to get as many gamers on board as possible. Having Social features only allows the PlayStation brand to be seen by more eyes. No company would/should pass up such an opportunity.
