First Official Project CARS Trailer: All Sorts Of Tasty Images

This could be the racing game that challenges Gran Turismo and Forza.

Project CARS is the next-gen adrenaline rush that puts you in control of some of the world's finest vehicles. It will also embrace virtual reality, as it was one of the first titles to announce Project Morpheus compatibility.

In this official trailer, we're seeing plenty of gorgeous imagery, along with what appears to be incredibly sharp gameplay footage. There are glimpses of numerous road tracks as well as varying weather conditions, and the variety of available cars is impressive. If done correctly, this really could be the second coming of interactive driving, don't you think?

Not that we want to put any undue pressure on the developers or anything...

Thanks, Zak!

Beautyful, but I'm not big on straight up racing. Somebody call me when Burnout Paradise comes to PS4.

Didn't Criterion fall apart recently? It would seem Burnout's days are over by them.. which is sad.

That's super sad, open world driving is the only kind that matters.

It's not so much the open-world driving of Burnout that interested, but the playground aspect. Having stunt jumps all over the place, being encourages to break down the fences to find shortcuts, and then the focus on utter destruction... Burnout Paradise was a joy and I haven't really seen that mentality executed anywhere else. Well, it was seen somewhat in Ridge Racer: Unbounded, but it wasn't really the same.

Burnout Paradise is the best arcade racer I've ever played, and a fantastic coop game.

if you gents are real hungry for something fairly close to Burnout Paradise then check out NFS Most Wanted. It's made by the same team, just with fused cops 'n robbers aspects. That's not something I particularly like about it. But it does give you a similar formula. Plus, it looks much prettier, yet at only 30fps.

I would LOVE a new Burnout Paradise for PS4 or even a remastered version would probably make me giddy. All I thought about watching that trailer is how cool Burnout Paradise would be on my PS4.

I can't believe these other racing games can't add the car damage like they did.

Stay Classy PSX...

the fact that burnout paradise is going to be the last burnout game ever made makes me a very sad panda indeed.
f*ck you EA by destroying one of the industries best developers by shoving them onto a dying tired franchise!
i would do ANYTHING to see another burnout game hit next gen consoles, just one last hurrah!

I'm willing to give it a try when it releases. But I'm skeptical that this team can match the experience of Polyphony Digital. When it comes to simulation racing I don't think anyone is as qualified as PD. It's a lot more than just pretty graphics. So unless this is really unprecedented I'll wait for GT7.

...I read, don't know if it's true, that this game is developed by ex-NFS Shift developers..... not sure what to think about that.

Folks seem to be comparing this to Driveclub for some reason I'm not yet aware of.

About the devs, that is true. It's Slightly Mad Studios.

thanks Lawless.
I can't say I liked the way NFS Shift handled at all. Here's hoping they improve in that regard.

Maybe.

We'll have to wait and see whether or not Slightly Mad Studios can completely free themselves from the kind of thinking they were boxed into while making the NFS Shift games.

I'll still be buying Project Cars regardless, especially if it releases before GT7.

I played the Alpha a little while back. It's wasn't a real smooth ride at the time, but it was getting there. I'm not a big racing fan, but it's one that I'll play from time to time. I still prefer iRacing for my racing fix, but Project Cars will impress a lot of people when it releases.

That was beautiful car porn. Something about the visuals looked a bit off, as though the game is occupying a middle ground between the strictly realistic style of GT and the more garish lighting of Forza, but that's okay. I'll be getting this one, so long as GT7 isn't too near when I get a PS4 because, well, car porn.

So because the team write the game for more than one platform it can't be as good as something written only for one piece of hardware?
What rock has you lived under the last decade? The rock of great denial?

Hopefully Wii U being lowest common denominator doesn't affect the PS4 version.

the detail on the cars in this game oh my freaking lord!
this makes driveclub look like a freaking ps2 game!
closed tracks meh, couldnt care less.
but the open world racing on real world locations that could be so cool!
hopefully this will be what test drive unlimited 2 was always suppose to be!
wish more devs would put that much detail into cars, it was so cool being able to turn on the lights, open the drop tops, just little things like that go such a long way.
