Sony's Road To Greatness Tour Highlights PS4 And Vita

It's time to spread the good word.

Sony has announced a "Road to Greatness" tour featuring the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. The flagship next-gen console and the slick portable will embark on a multi-city event that starts today at the Stagecoach Music Festival in Indio, California.

Sony will then travel to other music events as well as NASCAR races; for the full schedule, check the official PlayStation site. Those who choose to be part of the tour will go hands-on with "dozens" of current and upcoming PS4 and Vita games, and you can even compete in tournaments to win special prizes. Of course, if you already own both platforms, you don't really need to sample...but you can always show up and have fun!

This will probably help the two systems as we dive into the warm-weather drought. May as well try to keep excitement high until the fall.

Yeah it's a good idea to keep this hype around PS4 going and have Microsoft buried by the time 2015 rolls around and we finally start to get real next gen games. Tours can have bigger effects than one would think. If I were in charge I'd follow some of the stops up with big publicity stunts. Maybe have a Snake cosplayer parachute into the event from a helicopter.

I have a feeling that is the plan. PS4 is doing phenomenally with only 2 AAA exclusives. I can only imagine how this will play out when we get the heavy hitters. Not to mention any new IP that are surely in development.

No events in my area last I checked. I would definitely go.

Ben, maybe you can answer this question. Why is it that a warm weather drought even exists? If I were a developer I would seriously consider releasing a big game during this time. When there is virtually no competition.

Is it because many people vacation during the warm weather? Kids are out of from school and should be outside I feel but they have to come in sometime. I've always wondered about that.

Whatever the reason, they should think of us poor suckers in the southern hemisphere who go through winter without any new releases.

Yeah, that must really suck. I wouldn't have a backlog in those conditions.

It'd be a great idea if PS4 actually had anything remotely worth a damn out for it now or any time in the near future. As it stands, we're looking at late 2015, at the earliest, before this system is more than a very expensive doorstop.
