A Veritable Treasure Trove Of Advanced Warfare Details
Thanks to the June issue of Game Informer - and the corresponding summary at GameSpot - we've got a ton of new info.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is scheduled to launch on November 4 for all major consoles and PC, and we've already got an official trailer. Now, we've got all sorts of new story and gameplay details; here's a collection of our favorites:
-- The story begins with a catastrophic event that's described as a "global 9/11."
-- Players assume the role of Private Mitchell, voiced by accomplished voice actor Troy Baker (Joel, The Last Of Us, Booker, Bioshock Infinite). Unlike previous franchise entries, AW has only one protagonist.
-- You earn points that will be used to upgrade your EXO suit. That suit will let you climb walls with magnetic gloves, boost-dodge, perform super-jumps, and use optic camo for cloaking.
-- One of the new vehicles is called the Pitbull, which is based on the real-life Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle. And yes, it's usable.
-- No word on multiplayer just yet but there will be some sort of co-op mode.
-- Veteran Metal Gear Solid composer Harry Gregson-Williams is working on the game's soundtrack.
-- So as to produce a more believable world, Activision consulted with "experts from production design in movies, experts in the military, scientists, futurists, etc."
I'm sure we'll be hearing more and more about Advanced Warfare as time goes on. It's inevitable, really.
