A Veritable Treasure Trove Of Advanced Warfare Details

Thanks to the June issue of Game Informer - and the corresponding summary at GameSpot - we've got a ton of new info.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is scheduled to launch on November 4 for all major consoles and PC, and we've already got an official trailer. Now, we've got all sorts of new story and gameplay details; here's a collection of our favorites:

-- The story begins with a catastrophic event that's described as a "global 9/11."

-- Players assume the role of Private Mitchell, voiced by accomplished voice actor Troy Baker (Joel, The Last Of Us, Booker, Bioshock Infinite). Unlike previous franchise entries, AW has only one protagonist.

-- You earn points that will be used to upgrade your EXO suit. That suit will let you climb walls with magnetic gloves, boost-dodge, perform super-jumps, and use optic camo for cloaking.

-- One of the new vehicles is called the Pitbull, which is based on the real-life Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle. And yes, it's usable.

-- No word on multiplayer just yet but there will be some sort of co-op mode.

-- Veteran Metal Gear Solid composer Harry Gregson-Williams is working on the game's soundtrack.

-- So as to produce a more believable world, Activision consulted with "experts from production design in movies, experts in the military, scientists, futurists, etc."

I'm sure we'll be hearing more and more about Advanced Warfare as time goes on. It's inevitable, really.

Wow. That really is encouraging information.

Troy Baker is a win for me. I mean, Kevin Spacey + Troy Baker showdown? Yes please.

Usable vehicles, sounds amazing. Well for a COD game. So do those Exosuit abilities and RPG style EXO-points.

I am 110% sure there will be people that dismiss this game as "more of the same" and even though those people will probably still buy the game (COD is still one of the highest selling games every year). But for those of us who actually enjoy playing games for the right reasons, hopefully you can see the potential here.

EDIT: After seeing all the comments on IGN for this game, I am honestly at the point where I am like "The people who dislike COD are actually more annoying and kind of pathetic than the people who do like it". Cuz like, every year COD is announced, every year it's an FPS. The people that keep complaining about it EVERY freaking year are just annoying. Just STFU and GTFO.

Heres the more important news of this game:

You aim, you shoot and you repeat.

As you do in every single FPS in existence. Saying that COD is the only FPS game where you shoot people, is basically admitting that you are shortsighted.

You can say the same about any game really, there's no game where every single bit of gameplay is unique. All games have loads of repetition, that's why it's about the quality of gameplay. If it's fun then I'm happy to aim, shoot and repeat for hours on end.

And all you do in video games is press a glorified remote control at a television screen for hours on end........ right?

Upgradeable EXO-suit = cool. Earning points for popping off headshots in order to gain those points = less cool.

Harry Gregson Williams + Troy Baker = cool.
"Global 9/11" = less cool. Just sounds like an excuse for spectacle and bombast.

Nevertheless, I'm actually encouraged that Sledgehammer is doing something noticeably different with the formula this time around (or so it seems right now).

I'd like more info. I'm at lease curious at this point. CoD trailers are always intriguing, but I'd like to see some gameplay.

......I think i just described my thought process for 98% of all games....
