Sony Books Hammerstein Ballroom In NY For PlayStation Event

Well, they've got just the right venue for a huge unveiling.

As everyone knows, Sony will hold a special PlayStation press event on February 20, at which time many expect the company to formally announce the PlayStation 4. That seems more and more likely with every passing minute. Perhaps it's inevitable.

As it turns out, Sony will be holding this mystery meeting at The Hammerstein Ballroom at the Manhattan Center Studios in New York. That's not a normal-sized venue for a press event, not by any stretch: The Ballroom can seat up to 2,800 people and sports a ceiling that towers 75 feet above the main floor, complete with rigging points suitable for lighting and other set design accouterments. At the Hammerstein's website, they say "production possibilities are virtually limitless," so maybe that's the kind of thing that attracted Sony. A flashy reveal is incoming!

So at 6 p.m. on February 20, you can expect a seriously high-tech announcement, it seems. They'll be live-streaming the event, of course, and everyone seems fully prepared for the PS4.
