MLB 14: The Show For PS4 Drops Today: Upgrades Galore
Baseball season is already in full swing - pun intended - but you can finally get involved in the virtual action.
We normally get a new entry in the critically acclaimed The Show franchise in the first week of March. But the developers needed a few extra months to make the PlayStation 4 version something special, so MLB 14: The Show launches today. The PS3 and Vita iterations came out last month.
Director of Production Chris Cutliff assures PS4 owners that yes, this definitive version was well worth the wait. As he said over at the PlayStation Blog, the team wasn't content to "simply port over this year's game;" rather, they've gone the extra mile. All the MLB stadiums have been "completely rebuilt from scratch" and they boast vastly superior textures and polygons that number 1 million rather than 150,000.
Player models are also more realistic, and we get "fully rendered" grass and a revamped lighting engine that is on prominent display during night games. Then there's the "fully redone" crowd audio to add to the immersive experience. Said Cutliff:
"Our goal every year is to capture as closely as possible the excitement that takes place on the real world field and to show why baseball is the best sport in the world."
And if you wish to experience it fully, the PS4 version is clearly the way to go.
