CD Projekt Red: The Witcher 3 Won't Be Delayed Again

It was delayed once, but it won't be delayed again.

Developer CD Projekt Red co-founder Marcin Iwinski made that plain in a recent Eurogamer interview, insisting that his team is not comprised of a bunch of "newbies:"

"This is not our first game; we are not newbies. It's not like 'hey we are delaying and we'll keep on delaying'. If we would think we need more time we would say 'hey we'll release it not in February but, I don't know, June'. We made the decision at the moment we were able to judge how much time we needed, and we planned it well and it works well for us. So, no more delays."

Iwinski said he was surprised at the fan response, which was actually quite positive in regards to the delay announcement. He added that The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings might've been a better game had it had a longer development cycle:

"You can always take more time on a game, especially with huge games. You're never able to plan perfectly, and then the closer you get to shipping, the more you see 'oh I could use these [extra] two-three months...'"

Lastly, Iwinski clarified that they didn't delay The Witcher 3 to move farther away from EA's Dragon Age: Inquisition, which is set to launch on October 8. Bear in mind that EA didn't reveal this until well after CD Projekt Red delayed their project.

Okay, well, now you've done it: You've said "no more delays" and everyone is going to return to this quote if a delay inexplicably happens. Just sayin'.

I'm with you on that. This is the game that sells me a PS4. I'm currently knee deep in Elder Scrolls online. Booyah

LV, I have to ask, is ESO worth it? I mean is it offering something more than we already have with Skyrim which could be played almost indefinitely in and of itself?

I find it to offer more. I'm loving the crafting. It's the most complex and rewarding crafting I've ever seen in an mmo. Also if you liked Skyrim and wanted to enjoy it with some of your friends than ESO is for you. If you prefer the single player expereince than avoid ESO but if you want to enjoy a Scrolls game with other people I believe ESO delivers on that. The amount of abilities is scary when you first start. There is a ton of depth to everything.

My only complaint is the lack of a server auction house. You can join guilds (up to 500 in them) and trade/sell items that way. One of my favorite things to do in an mmo is play the market to my advantage. Sadly that's not possible with the current format for selling/trading items.

I have the first Witcher game on Steam though I've only play maybe the first hour of it. The combat was brilliant and I only wish I had a better PC to revisit it and really get dug in. Haven't touched the second game at all but I believe it's amazing. So I'd love if we got the first two games before the third one drops on PS4 or even on PS3, just so I could play catch up. Either way I'll definitely get this new game.

Just out of curiousity how far did you get? Why weren't you impressed with it, what did/didn't you like.
