Transistor Launch Trailer Shows Off Its Singular Art Style

It's definitely one of the more colorful, artistic games we've seen.

Supergiant Games is about to deliver Transistor to the PlayStation 4 and PC; it will be available next week, on May 20.

The launch trailer gives you a look at the anticipated title's singular style, and we also get a peek at the enemies we'll be facing. There's a talking sword, too, which is always worth mentioning (I always got a thrill whenever my Sword Familiar said something in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night). At any rate, the gameplay appears to be ultra-engaging and quite original, which translates to one word: Refreshing.

As I've said many times before, if you want something different in this industry, you really need to check out the digital and indie scene.

Loved Bastion and I'm sure I will love this. The art style is just so nice. Hopefully the gameplay is solid as well.

Yes. I love the art direction here. I read about the artist during Bastion's launch. I like the original art style that draws anime influences but doesn't fall into the realm of generic anime that I see way too much of. I also dig her use of fluorescent colors.

I really hope SuperGaint nails it with this one. I think they have a shot at being the next That Game Company of the indie scene.

While I usually am turned off by indie games because many treat art direction as an afterthought, these guys appear to be firing on all cylinders.
