PlayStation Evolution Videos Continue: PS2 And PS3 Highlighted

When the first homage video focusing on the original PlayStation console popped up, we wondered if we'd see two more videos, one each for the PS2 and PS3.

And so we have. Sony has continued their Evolution video series at the PlayStation Meeting 2013 website, and there are now look backs at the last two generations.

As you might expect, both videos recap the earliest moments of both machines (from the original announcement to the launch) along with the ensuing rise of those consoles. The PS2 was a beast from the start; nothing could touch it, not even Microsoft's new game console. The PS3 had its difficulties out of the gate but has since become yet another great PlayStation machine that gamers can rely on for delivering top-quality exclusives, a free PlayStation Network, and of course, true high-definition gaming via Blu-Ray.

So are we ready for that PS4 video now?

The PS2 one was cool. The PS3 vid seemed a lot more flat and less media praised. It failed to show the news reports about Sony's troubles as of late =p

Why would a video that was made to show the "highlights" of the Playstation brand show the "lowlights"?

Agreed. The american media especially gave the ps3 an incredibly hard time out of the gate. Let's see what happens in two days!

Don't really care. They've already said that they aren't looking to improve that much on hardware, so I might just skip this generation of consoles. It's not like this gen had many good games anyway (compared to the golden days of the PS2).

All I see coming out for consoles is Military FPS, and they all play exactly the same. Video games are a dying art. Devs and manufacturers getting too greedy, charging more and more. Soon it's all going to be about shitty flash phone game apps. maybe board games.

I'm sorry, but outside of the JRPG realm, that's just a ridiculously incorrect statement.

That was one weird rant.
If all you see coming out for consoles is military FPS, then you only - ONLY - see what you want to see, and completely ignore 49/50 games released, and all the innovation and new experiences this generation brought with it.

I mean, why are you even a gamer any more if you haven't noticed *any* of the gems that's been released over the last 6-7 years?

Strange....

Your going to skip an ENTIRE generation. So you're not going to play a single console game for the next 5 years?

Good luck to you son :)

gotta love the absence of the boomerang.
surprised they put a video of father ken in there too.........
video for the psp and vita is up as well.
gotta love how $ony is doing this though, nice to see for once instead of the usual we dont comment on rumors and speculation comment, there actually doing something to confirm them!
they could of done nothing, but releasing these videos, well, if they dont confirm the ps4 is about to be announced, than nothing does!
just goes to show $ony DOES know how to advertise things!
shame they dont exercise that muscle much........
