Shadow Warrior Runs In 1080p On PS4, 900p On Xbox One
Hey, another game that performs better on the PlayStation 4.
You gotta think that Microsoft is getting tired of all these headlines.
But anyway, according to developer Flying Wild Hog, the upcoming Shadow Warrior reboot runs in 1080p HD on Sony's console, while it only manages 900p on the Xbox One. Both versions, however, will hit 60 frames per second according to a new Gamingbolt interview.
Lead engineering programmer Krzysztof Narkowicz said "it was very important to have 60FPS," which is why both iterations will hit that plateau. As for the stumbling blocks the team faced in getting the PS4 version to run at 1080p:
"Mainly CPU issues, as our engine didn't scale for more than 2-4 cores. This required a change of threading architecture and many parts of the engine needed a rewrite."
Shadow Warrior launched last year on PC, and is scheduled to hit the PS4 and Xbox One this summer. Regardless of the new $399 price tag for Microsoft's system, it still doesn't seem all that attractive when most every multiplatform game seems to be a bit better on the PS4. Just my two cents.
