Development Stars May Be At Sony's PlayStation Meeting

Sony's anticipated PlayStation Meeting takes place today at 6 p.m. EST in New York. The venue can seat 2,800 people...and it seems some of them may be high-ranking members of various development studios.

Does that mean any of them will get some stage time...? We'll have to wait and see. As Polygon reports, designers from Ubisoft Montreal (Watch Dogs), Sony Santa Monica Studios (God of War: Ascension, Bungie (Destiny) and Quantic Dream (Beyond: Two Souls) will be in attendance.

A Tweet from Sony Santa Monica reads:

"What does our future hold for tomorrow? We heard they may open Pandoras Box (again) live on stage, that would be AWESOME #playstation2013."

Watch Dogs lead designer Jonathan Morin said he'll be in New York as of today, and Quantic Dream CEO Guillaume de Fondaumiere also teased that he's currently in town: "New York, -6 Celsius and clear sky :-)" Other developers, such as Dave Lang of Iron Galaxy Studios and Capabara Games president Nathan Vella will also be in the crowd, so who knows how many major guys will actually be at this thing? Epic Games president Mark Rein will supposedly be there as well, as will Bungie composer Marty O'Donnell. Will our buddy Jack Tretton be presenting, too...?

This is going to be one hell of an event.

Operation: Get the entire industry tweeting about PS4 has commenced.

And the entire industry will be doing that (officially) for the next three months or so as MS says they'll be officially announcing at E3! Brilliant marketing on Sony's part!

It was the top article for the BBC's homepage a few hours ago, and will probably be again sometime later today and tommorrow. It seems Sony are still able to send shockwaves without y'know, really doing anything lol.

Ludicrous, the press here in Norway are glowing hot too - they are going apeshit in excitement. The event tonight really is talked about in every single place where gaming is covered whatsoever.

And what's great is that I have not seen one single negative or pessimistic article. Not that it is surprising - there nothing to be pessimistic about as far as I am concerned. It's just very nice to see.

I am at the Manhattan Center now. The only person I can recognize by Dave is that Cresente character. It's fickin cold!!! I'm going in. Going to try to abduct the PS4 prototype! Lol...

Guys, think logically. FFXIV for the PC is already in Beta testing, the PS3 version has yet to see the light of day. If this new Playstation system is x86 based, who want's to bet that FFXIV will be redirected to the PS4 instead of PS3?

I read kojima was in NY too. Also some sort of technical square Unix person was reportedly flying to NY. If there's a mgs and ff for ps4, everything else is just gravy. Delicious gravy, but still.

Everything I'm hearing about the hardware leads me to believe I won't regret much my decision to skip the first two years of the PS4. With my Bachelors Degree a good three years away, I will just keep my PS3, catch up on my backlog slowly and jump in when the games that matter are all out and school is almost over.
Being that this generation was the longest, I was expecting a huge jump in power, but it seems like everyone is going the Nintendo way... PS3.5, XinetiX540, GameCube U...
Lets see how it goes tonight, I'm hopping Sony might change my mind.

Omygod you guys, I just raped Best Buy pretty hard in the anus. I went to do an in store pickup of a pre-owned copy of Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City and they couldn't find it, the manager lady went to Gaming and came back with a brand new Resident Evil 6 and was like "Is that it?" and I was like "Uhh yeah" Bam, RE6 for $5.

Good for you. They tried to screw me over couple weeks ago. They deserve that. I went to pick up a Kindle Fire HD I ordered. I got it home realized the perferation on the box was cut. I didnt think much about it, but after taking the thing out it was filthy with fingerprints on the screen, wouldnt turn on, or take a charge and of all things there was a perfect outline where there was a sticker in the shape of a star. They sold me a used, broken one, for retail price. Although they got what was coming to them then, this makes me smile!

Yeah, Best Buy is good for that. I got Amazing Spider-Man Blu Ray combo for free. They gave me someone else's copy and refunded my payment. I didn't even realize till I got the refund sent to my card. Manager said just keep it. It seems to be a common occurrence unfortunately. I had to put some managers in check when my "RESERVED" copy of Marvel vs Capcom magically disappeared. I warned the manager that I would escalate. He thought I was bluffing until A Regional Director called him within 15 minutes. Wait what? Lesson is.. you never know what anyone is capable of.
