GTAV For PS4/Xbox One/PC Will Boast A Myriad Of Upgrades

As we learned during Sony's E3 conference, the acclaimed and hugely popular Grand Theft Auto V is going next-gen.

It will be available later this year for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC and it'll supposedly take "full advantage" of the added power. This according to the latest post at the Rockstar Newswire website.

Rockstar is working hard to implement "across-the-board graphical and technical improvements," which will ultimately deliver "a stunning new level of detail." Players will appreciate increased draw distances, better textures, denser traffic and enhanced resolution, along with new wildlife, and upgraded weather and damage effects. In short, it should be a technical tour de force amped up to the power of 11, and that's exactly what gamers want.

Furthermore, it has been confirmed that all content released thus far for Grand Theft Auto Online will be available on PS4, Xbox One and PC. You can also transfer your online characters from the older consoles to the new ones, and your save files for the GTAV story will carry over as well.

If you never played (or didn't finish) GTAV on the PS3 or 360, well, just be patient and play the definitive version this fall!

@Ben

Are you sure story progression carries over to Ps4, assuming you have a save file on your Ps3? As far as I know, the only thing that carries over is the online portion of the game. Not the single player progress.

John wrote the article.
Sony stated themselves during E3 that either the PS3 or the Xbox 360 (you read right) save data will carry over to a PS4.

....sony knows they're getting a lot of platform hoppers right now

I know that, but I think it is just the online portion. Not single player progress.

I think we should believe them in this rare case, GTA V clearly had that look about it of next level greatness. That means it was probably the engine scaling things down to get it to work on the old consoles. So there's probably extra texture, frame, and light processing that can be done simply by running in the new hardware environment.

While the game did look like it was designed with better hardware in mind, it still looks fantastic.
Mostly, it'll benefit from higher view and detail distances, as well as the added traffic. The game felt void of life at times, and generally quite empty.

I just hope that the preordered blimp carries over as well. I freaking loved that thing, and how tranquil it felt.
It's safe to say that I for one will be buying GTA5 on the PS4, mostly because I can't play it on my PS3 anymore. While I'm not a fan of the multiplayer, and would much rather prefer a GTA4-style free roam with weapon pickups, I still love the singleplayer, and suspect I'll spend countless hours playing it... Assuming of course that the news report indeed meant that single and multi transferred over. If it's only multi, I fear I won't rebuy.

I wouldn't mind if the singleplayer didn't transfer over since I rarely ever bothered with the online portion, even though it looked pretty fleshed out, and never will on ps4 since I don't intend to ever pay for online.

As a big GTA fan I'm still tempted just to have the best version, but I hate double dipping. So I'll most likely end up waiting the obscene amount of time it will take for the price to go back down, especially after this annoying rehash of the $70 price-point.

personally i think they'd be stupid to not put it on PC but it's nice to see it on PS4 and XB1 as there will be alot of people who didn't get it the 1st time round

happy gaming =)
