Ubisoft: Assassin's Creed: Unity Just Isn't Possible On PS3/360
Why won't Assassin's Creed: Unity be on the PlayStation 4 or Xbox 360?
Quite simply, because it "can't be done."
This is what Ubisoft senior vice president of sales and marketing Tony Key told GameSpot during E3. Key made it very clear that the newest entry in the series is a "next-gen game."
"It's built for next-gen; it can't be done on current-gen, at least we haven't figured out how and we're not trying to."
Key added that Unity is one of the few major multiplatform releases in 2014 that will exclusively land on next-gen consoles. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Batman: Arkham Knight were scheduled to release this holiday season but now, both are slated for 2015. There are rumors that Ubisoft plans to bring another AC title - dubbed "Comet" - to the PS3 and 360 but that isn't official just yet.
If you missed the E3 trailer for Unity, here it is. ...yeah, doesn't look like the older hardware could handle this.
