Dragon Age: Inquisition Producer Clarifies Endings Situation

Personally, I never took that comment literally.

Last week, Dragon Age: Inquisition producer Cameron Lee said the upcoming RPG would boast "40 major endings with additional variations."

That got people talking but since that time, executive producer Mark Darrah clarified the statement to GameSpot:

"Ending clarification: Most endings are major variations based upon your choices in the game. There are only a few completely unique endings."

That sounds about right. I still say that all this so-called freedom concerning choices made in games doesn't result in much of anything concerning narrative shifts. In point of fact, considering what the writers would have to do, there really can't be any drastic story alterations. But having multiple endings is always a bonus, if only to encourage another play-through.

Dragon Age: Inquisition is ready to launch on October 7.

I think we all knew what was meant considering their previous works of the ME series.

Anyone else prefer games with one single awesome ending as opposed to these various endings?

Me! As much fun as these games are, like Ben says it's not possible to have the same kind of amazing story that comes with a fully scripted linear plot.

Yeah, I agree. I prefer games that have set dialogue and cinematic scenes instead of me choosing from a pool of insignificant responses. Maybe I'm just "old school".

Bah - did they have the need of clarifying this?
Of course those forty can be only variations around a few main endings.

The sad thing is they do all that work and I'm only going to see one ending no matter what. I don't have another 50 odd hours to play these kinds of games more than once.

Yeah I'm like that too. I shape my story but enjoy it only once.
That is one thing about the "multi-content" kind of games - there's a lot of writing I'll never get to enjoy.

Same here World, I finish once than go to youtube to see the rest. What a waste of development time and cost, in my opinion.

I don't think it's a waste, LV, not if the result is that it makes me feel so much more involved in the story I do get to experience.
