Recent Poll Shows Xbox One Has The Popularity Edge In The US
This time last year, who would've expected a map of the US would look like this?
So, the Movoto Real Estate blog took data culled from Facebook and put together the map you see here. It consists of gamer preferences based on the "Likes" the next-gen consoles earned.
As you can see, it's close: 9 states are basically tied in terms of their PS4/Xbox One preference, but overall, 22 states sided with the Xbox One, while 19 went with the PS4. It's important to note that several of the states with the largest populations (California, New York, Texas, etc.) are green (for Xbox One). As the blog states, if this were an election, it would be over; the green states and their corresponding populations dominate.
As the generation goes on, will things change? It probably depends but for now, it's arguable that Microsoft has most of the momentum, as the Xbox One just got a price drop on June 9. The US has been Xbox Land for years and despite Sony's fast start this generation, it doesn't appear as if PlayStation can reclaim this territory. Then again, it's still early, so you never know...
