Alien: Isolation: 1080p on PS4, Xbox One
We've seen a lot of multiplatform games performing better on the PlayStation 4.
But Xbox One owners don't have to worry about an under-performing version of the upcoming Alien: Isolation, so says developer Creative Assembly.
According to a recent OXM interview with lead game designer Gary Napper, we learn that both the PS4 and Xbox One versions will run at 1080p. And the frame rate is "comparable."
"When I think about working on the game, it's almost platform agnostic because I only think about the differences between platforms and the different mechanics we can use, like the light on the PS4 pad and the stuff with Kinect 2.0. So I think with framerate it's pretty comparable. There's no noticeable drop or change in graphics between them. Obviously there are a lot more options to tweak and scale up on the PC."
Numerous titles have boasted either a better resolution or frame rate (or both) on the PS4, starting with Call of Duty: Ghosts and Assassin's Creed: Black Flag last year. Looking down the road, developers do seem to be getting more out of Sony's machine, but perhaps that will change with time.
Alien: Isolation, a survival/horror-esque game that might actually be true to the original film's horror roots, is slated to arrive on October 7 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
